laptop fan is loud as fuck

what causes this?
I use the laptop alot and it seems lately to be kickin on real loud and then after 30-45 seconds slows it self down ...

or is that the hd about to shit?

Replace it..sounds like it's on it's way out

Trixxxia 08-20-2006 08:57 PM

Most likely needs a good cleaning (I know people won't agree with me...but) I normally would turn it off and do a massive 'compressed air' blowout on the fan.

I've always cleaned out all my electronics, via it be computer or stereo, with a small compressed air tank. It's the best way to do it imo, fastest as well. Just don't press the nozzle right next to any of the components (stay a good foot back) and you are good to go. I've never had any troubles from doing it that way, dunno how much of a risk it actually poses though. *note* - if you do it on your pc/laptop fans make sure to try to hold the fan in place as you do it, you can cause damage to them if you cause them to spin too fast.

jerk off into the fan unit to lubricate it........all should work out fine.....

How is that?

Yeah my laptop has been doing the same thing... now I have it raised up like 2" off my desk but it still does it occasionally when under heavy load :(

At least your laptop fan works. Mine doesn't.

BSleazy 08-20-2006 10:14 PM

Once in a while I reach under the laptop, if it's real hot I blow on the fan that doesn't work and I here it spin and whistle. I do that for a while and I think it's ok :)

Compressed air is definately the way to go. A simple clean can add years to any electrical item.

My fan is not loud, but notebook is very hot. You can make an omlet on it.

L-Pink 08-21-2006 10:51 AM

Mine does that whenever I use it in the sauna?
