Man im getting sick of this shit@#$ either my ram is going bad or my harddrive is or SOMETHING Eles is going crazy but my shit is running slow crashing programs etc.... im doing the adware scan right now It found 10 running prossess how the hell do I find out what is running on my puter. I did the alt+ctrl+ del and it is only showing explore. YES this is a win98 pos

I am trying to defrag the bastard as well but it keeps restarting saing the drive keeps changing so IS there away to find out what all is running and shut them things down?

don't defrag windows 98 if you plan on using it in the next 12 hours. also defrag it in safemode, tends to be more successful
most adaware stuff that is found is cookies for sextracker and such

eh? I have a amd-k6 3d procssor 312.0 mb of ram its a nasty ass compaq presario. What would that have to do with my computer running slow as shit and programs dieing all of a sudden and OH yea when I go to web sites most of the graphics dont show up I have to go and right click on dem and to show lol

SHIT good idea in safe mode thanks for the advice on that mate... yea so far adware has found 11 new compontents man IM just stressing out had to goto court today screw it im going to do a little ventting,,,,,,

Went to my chapter 13 hearing today the trustee was this huge fat ass big nosed wanker with a 3 piece wall street smile so he finaly calls me and my lawyer up NOW IM Infront of about 50 + other people telling my story on why i need to go chapter 13 and he says You work for va2k designs DOT NET I was like yes sir what do you do I build web site! What kinda of sites MR KISER I looked at him and said basic ones he then clears his FAT throat and said can you be more specific I SAID I BUILD ADULT PORN WEBSITES he looked shocked and said ok fucking everyone started looking at me all weird and shit god fuck them people!


Then I was told I had to pay them $407.00 buy 4pm I was like wtf to make a long story short THE fat PHUCKER was given me the run around cause I was the only MALE in there with LONG ass blond hair jeans and a T-shirt. YEA YEA I know I should of dressed up but SCREW that that AINT me.


lord and now spending the last 3 hours trying to get my programs to work so I can finish some work up before I goto bed. It never ever crossed my mind about safe mode shit THAT is a great idea and WIll do that ok ok ok IM DONE venting

I recomend you upgrade to win xp before I had a ton of ram issues wiht my comp so thought it was ram, turned out to be win 98 se

Ive heard tooooooo many horror stories on xp so kinda of scared to mess with that I dont have time to mess around all day on something like that at the moment. But thanks for the info :)

that's incorrect. win 98 is fine, and definitely faster than XP, contrary to the common belief.

If you want to check out what programs are actually running on your windows 98 system, you need to find a program called pview95.exe It's a programmers tool, it shows you ALL processes running on your computer, including the kernel.

It's good for finding virus's etc. on a 98 system.

Just do a search for pview95.exe , i'm sure someones got it hosted out there. It also lets you kill processes running, so you can kill it, then delete it, then search for it in the registry etc.

Shut down all processes running in your tray that can be shut down... virii checker as well AND shut off the screensaver... THEN defrag. Defrag in safemode is not needed at all.

XP sux. If you want to spend $$ on software go get Norton Systemworks PRO 2002.

Going strong building custom systems since 95 and we run 98 so hard it squeaks and never have real problems with it. :winkwink:

Although my good friend Gem is usually right on the ball, she's a little out to lunch on the "XP sucks" statement. My comp has never run smoother or faster. As for your programs running in the background, you might want to go to start menu, then to "run", type in msconfig, you will be able to see what programs are running on start and also running constantly, and uncheck them if you don't want them slowing you up.

Dont defrag at all
chances are you are just gonna lose what's left there
