Let's see what you need when you are my age . . . if you make it |
Both me and Perrie (TwistedGirl) run 19" 1440x900 monitors. Widescreen. It's great :) Sure, we'd both want higher, but the price shoots up... and we've yet to make our millions! :)

that is what I reset it too |
Haha, if you think THAT'S bad -- try this (this is my desk from a few months ago, I have two 30"ers now, those are dual 24"ers at the time):
http://www.edgeprod.com/dom/dom-desk.jpg I was called "The Mole" by someone who saw me looking at my screens without my contacts in -- my nose was about an inch off of the monitor. They just suck in lower resolutions, so all of the text ends up tiny. |
I am used to sitting about 6' from my desktop monitor, so putting the laptop 3' away and not being able to read it without glasses was a drag. This 1024x768 is okay though.
I need to do the dual monitor setup next. |
my new laptop has a resolution of 1280x800 which I think is annoying

The thing that's REALLY nice about dual monitors is the ability to post and x-reference something, to design and see the results on the other monitor, to have ICQ open AND and window not overlapping it, etc. It really speeds up your work by a large factor .. you don't realize how much time you spend switching windows to "see" them until you stop doing it. You can put two different wallpapers on two different monitors, and you can "span" two, three, etc. monitors with one BIG wallpaper, and there are communities that are dedicated to doing just this. "Pimping" the dual monitor setup, in essence. In those circles, my dual 30"s are child's play. Check Craigslist, etc. In your area, you can probably pick up a nice pair of Dell 24" for $500 each (get the 2407, not the 2405, it's a HUGE increase in clarify/features for the same "aftermarket" price). You can also pick up a pair of Dell 30" monitors (from what I know, this is the EXACT SAME monitor as the Apple Cinema Display, with a different color case) for $1,100 each. |
lol at the old man. you are like an old dog turd that has turned white from mold.:1orglaugh

Yeah, goodgirl has duals and I have watched her work. Seems pretty efficient |
I think because this is a widescreen must be the reason for the weird default

I run my main monitor at 1600 x 1200. Once you go there you can't ever go back.
Pictures look lifelike. |
