what is an good alternative to winamp?
 

i loved winamp and used it for over 4 years now every day...
but now it starts requesting all the updates and new versions every month and starts bugging me...
so is there an alternative out there ?

I use VLC for just about everything these days. The occasional real media file won't play (cause it's not a 'freeware' codec) but 95% of everything I play works great with it.

Get Foobar2000. Written by Peter Pawlowski, who used to work as a contractor for Nullsoft. Yep, the guys who originally created Winamp. It's simple as fuck, VERY basic... and was written because Winamp was getting too bloated and the guy didn't think you needed more than Winamp originally offerred. He was right.

videolan is good, but winamp rocks though!

i use iTunes for everything. has internet radio and very easy to use

winamp has internet radio and internet tv too.

I personally use winamp 2.x still - definitely the better version.

BTW notabook - grab yourself a copy of 'realalternative' - free codecs to play real media in any app.

winamp is the best so far. I use Modplug sometimes, but i am not sure it can show video.

you can turn off the updates. theres always itunes
