Million dollar home page idea...
 

so did the million dollar home page idea get popular on word of mouth alone? haven't done any research on it, but i assume he did have to contribute to the popularity by doing some sort of advertising? where would someone go if someone has a similar idea to this to help have the site grow faster?

word of mouth - it was unique and never done before, cant belive the idea was hi-jacked early on

I believe it was more PR / press that made the site take off and from there, word of mouth spread. That must have been one hell of a press release.

He just used the press. Did some press releases and then let it build. What made his site work was that it was newsworthy and worth talking about. If you have a site like that, send out a press release and cash in your million dollars. :thumbsup

lots of press releases sent,not many responses. lots of sites have hijacked the idea (including my time wasting ass) but give it a shot

exactly. there was an obvious viral element but this guy was a PR genius... He masterfully kept it in the news. Osama needs to hire this guy.

how did you manage to make time for this when your days are full of reading "get rich quick" books, flipping burgers and attending Amway seminars?
