Wireless router
I got a wireless router that I use here at home. There are two machines on the network, but I can't see the other one. Anyone know how I can fix it so I can get on the other machine over the network?
|
doubtfull your going to solve that problem without someone there unless we have more info.. are you both running the same operating system ?
|
Both computers must be part of the same network/workgroup ( ex: MSHOME )...
See that in control panel ---> system ---> computer name. Then, you must activate sharing on one computer for the other to see that/thoser folders. Do the same on the other .... |
I bet 10 people have already borrowed this guy's net access. Make sure you put some security on that bitch.
|
Try resetting the router?

noone solves this unless youre gonna post more info

how so????? it's not wireless. |
Heh What type of router is it?
Do you currently have any firewalls running or Antivirus programs? Check your niccard if you are running wired on the wireless router. Make sure you have Client for Microsoft installed File/print sharing as well. Are both XP machines (I know it might sound funny) NTFS? I am a wireless guru. 802.11n is starting to look sexy :-) |
1.) were you able to see the other machine before?
Can you check to see if you can see the other machine? Netbios/ arp -a If anything try to a repair "right click repair on network stats icon" |
Good luck in fixing the problem. You got great help here!

bump for goodluck

Have you ever had it setup as a network or is this the first time?
