tipping is weird here - some dont tip at all, tip for restaurants 10-15% max I tip more often and more and theyre always like no you dont need to

oh and there are a ton of escorts in adam - http://yabyum.nl is famous and VERY pricey, plus the girls at the windows if you want a quickie

yes but a taxi takes twice as long as walkin, the barbizon is across the central station, that part station-dam is the busiest part of amsterdam, a taxi means sitting in it while he avoids drunken tourists

this is across the station too, never used it but it doesnt look bad, make sure you book through bookings or so 50-75% off is normal dont use the hotelsite

dont forget these are all old buildings small rooms think paris not phx

thats not the real one as in big marble table where theyll hit you with towels and oil, its like a shower thatll get pumped with hot steam, actually I prefer that over a sauna any time

barbizon is 5 star vic is 4 I think, its 1 more, so a US 4 star is a 3 star here normally, expect to cough up for a 5 star, especially the Amstel, thats the place Yoko Ono and John Lennon had their sit-in

oh and try to get a breakfast included

oh etiquette : DONT put your cred card at the edge of the table to ask for the bill, noone understands that plus some ahole will grab it, just ask for the bill theyll bring it, add cash for tip, not many like tips on cards since they gotta pay tax over it, 10% of the bill is normal

Ive never stayed there but its a parkplaza hotel theyre good, the other ones esp amstel and okura - if you wanna go 4/5 star - are a LOT more expensive, lemme check what they cost a night

i just saw the map on bookings.nl victoria hotel doesnt look too far from the show hotel

the barbizon is more secluded, the vict is on the spot where all the restaurants etc are busy there, theres water in between, its a mess there now theyre building a tunnel but its a 5 min walk from one side to the other

thats THE spot in amsterdam so all these hotels are expensive, there are cheaper ones in the area but more backpacker hotels for 80-100 euros a night, if you wanna save, then dont book breakfast, there are plenty of places where you can get bf right beside the hotel, anything from fries till kebab to sandwiches etc

1200 for 6 nights is PERFECT

clubs are nice

anything from grunge house till jetset clubs - dont expect the grinding rnb clubs its more dance stuff here

amstel is booked but 575 a night

YAB YUM yo.... I spent MUCHO money there, but if you want to have some hot steamy sex with Playboy type models and smoke some nice Cubans and buy 1200 dollar bottles of wine then that the place to go yo..

thats the vict, a bit older then the barbizon but still not bad at all, okura is more modern, check the candid pics youll see the rooms

I know, one night my buddy and I spent a couple hour in their huge room with a kick ass hot tub with 6 chicks. spent over 10 K that night but man it felt great. :thumbsup

to be honest if money is not that much of an issue Id check the Grand, its a bit further away maybe 10 min walk but its MUCH better then the Vict imho

Just a one hour trainride to Amsterdam and the trains go all night.
