Dangers of mixing Xanax (Ativan) & Alcohol???

xanax and alcohol will make you black out, but it is one HELLUVA ride, that is for sure

I had a friend that used to love mixing the 2 of those...he would pop 4-5 xanax and hit the jim beam....we had many a night se4arching for him out in the city, and eventually find him in his underwear wondering the streets...he would pass out and not remember anything the next day

Ativan is not Xanax.

xanax = alprazolam
ativan = lorazepam

and don't mix either of them with alcohol.

They're both benzodiazepine tranquilizers. Do not mix with alcohol!

I take Xanax and drink .. I just don't drink a lot .... it will make you pass out. kinda increases the effects of the booze .. be careful

I didnt know xanax was a benzo - whats the benefit over taking Lorazepam, it would be good if they are less adictive.... I might be able to persuade my shrink to give me some.

Sweetie, you are talking about two different drugs

Ativan- the brand name of lorazepam, a short-acting benzodiazepine. Used as an antianxiety medication also prescribed for anxiety with depression.

Xanax- Alprazolam is an anxiolytic benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety disorders.

Neither should be mixed with alcohol ever. Ativan totally exaggerates the effect of alcohol. There is no reason to to drink alcohol if just take two Xanax especially if it extended release Xanax. Do not drive if you mix either Ativan or Xanax. I'm not trying to tell you want to do. I had a horrible reaction when I mixed Ativan and alcohol and almost choken to death on my own vomit.

You're playing with fire when you mix benzodiazepines with alcohol let alone mixing 2 with it.

Also, there is no reason in the world to take ativan and xanax at the same time. It's like getting a gun, putting one bullet in it and playing roulette.
