Yngwie 08-19-2006 12:53 PM

I have a Pentium D 930 3ghz with 2gig ddr2 dual channel ram and it will do everything you want it to. Of course, I built my own computer so I always know exactly what goed in it.

Yngwie 08-19-2006 12:54 PM

the CPU you want will take half or more of your budget

Yngwie 08-19-2006 12:56 PM

or you can get Intel Pentium 4 661 3.6GHZ LGA775 2MB 800FSB XD EM64T Processor Retail Box which is like $230 canadian

Yngwie 08-19-2006 12:56 PM

the $500+ on is Intel Pentium 4 660 3.6GHZ LGA775 800FSB Prescott 2MB Cache 90NM EM64T HT

how much woudl you charge to build one of those and ship to the US ? (76542 zip to be exact) i got money waiting

Yngwie 08-19-2006 12:58 PM

then you'd have to get a new motherboard that support LGA775 CPUs, new ram, maybe a new video card since many new boards have PCI-e for video so if you have an AGP video card it would be uselss,

fris 08-19-2006 12:58 PM

you wont get a full system for 1000$

madawgz 08-19-2006 12:58 PM

thanks for the info Yngwie

well, it would all depend exactly what you wanted and if I could get all teh parts for a good price. What exactly do you want in this computer?

CPU:
ram:
hard drive:
video card:

etc..

OG LennyT 08-19-2006 01:01 PM

I built a Sempron 3100+ with 2 GB dual channel Ram and it rips it up.. fuckin cheap too.. maybe 400 bucks for all the parts

Kinda agree :winkwink:

If you are not familiar with boxes madawgz - get a someone competitent to build one for you from generic parts and stuff whatever you may need into it - only takes 30 mins to do that part. Then it's the OS, which you can prob do yourself.

Yngwie 08-19-2006 01:03 PM

and do you have a power supply with a 12v plug on it to plug onto the motherboard? That 12v is needed to power the CPU. (a P4 anyway)

Yngwie 08-19-2006 01:11 PM

the last stuff that I bought for my PC was;

ASUS P5LD2 ATX LGA775 I945P DDR2 PCI-E16 3PCI-E 3PCI SATA RAID Sound GBLAN Motherboard $156.65
PriceMatch $151.97

OCZ GX XTC PC2-4200 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-533 CL3-3-3-8 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit W/ Heatspreader 1 $277.58

Intel Pentium D 930 3GHZ LGA775 2X2MB 800FSB Processor Retail Box 1 $403.63

Samsung 940BF 19IN LCD Black 2MS 1280X1024 700:1 ANALOG/DIGITAL VGA DVI-I Monitor 1 $468.98

XFX GeForce 7800GT 450MHZ 256MB 256BIT 1.05GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I VIVO Video Card 1 $359.98

OCZ OCZ52012U-520W Modstream Power Supply PCI-E Ready W/ Ezmod Cable System & Blue LED Fan 1 $103.99

Turtle Beach Montego DDL 7.1 Dolby Digital Live Surround Sound Card PCI W/ Digital Out 1 $94.25

Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard USB Black Silver LCD Panel Programmable Back Lit Keys 1 $71.82

Shipping & Handling: $57.17
SUBTOTAL: $2,099.35
GST (7%): $146.95
TOTAL: $2,246.30

of course now the stuff is a little cheaper so that price would have been lower had I ordered it right now. Also, some of the shit in there you may not need.

the spec you posted sounds pretty good. For $1000 you should be able to pick up a beauty :)

I don't know how a computer with a P4 is considered "new". Considering the have the Pentitium Ds out for awhile and the Core 2 Duos just came out. No room for a CPU upgrade later.

Might want to take a look at personalwireless.org/2006/08/13/does-anyone-in-really-use-a-desktop-anymore/

Desktops are a waste unless you need a file/print server.
