A police officer just got killed outside of my house

I heard a bunch of police cars so I went out on my balcony and all of the road is blocked off. I went down the balcony to see what the deal was and a community police officer (so not really a full cop but more outreach) was had been run over by a car -apparently on puropse and killed. Not a pretty site. I have guests over and they can't get their car out to go home because the whole place is a crime scene at the moment. Have to love Friday nights.

Just_Dave 08-18-2006 04:29 PM

thats prety crazy

BoyAlley 08-18-2006 04:30 PM

As someone who's life partner is a cop, I really feel for the family right now.

My thoughts are with them. :(

Adam_M 08-18-2006 04:36 PM

That is very sad of the family.

Hope they track the person down..

not to much of a rent a cop ..they work with the police force but are more citizen police than anything.

The answer is probably a druggie. People that I talked say the car (black with blacked out windows) belongs to a drug guy. Who knows just now though.

Ingenious! Seriously though, what could the cop have done to piss off somebody to run him over like that... I know a lot of people have anonymisity toward police but shit.

I haven't seen any media here but I have been watching News 24 to see if it gets mentioned. If a hit and run murder of a police officer of any description isn't covered then there is something wrong. Other cases in a similar position have had the coverage. If you hear about something happening in Thamesmead then that is it.

They have copters with search lights out now. Bet the idiot ditched his car.

Ah, they are kind of like those neighborhood patrol cops, gotcha. I guess your right @ a druggie... most have more than enough common sense not to kill a cop, but I guess drugheads really aren?t thinking with their heads to begin with.

Where it happened is right outside of a pub that mostly has them as customers. All the old ladies that were watching kept saying 'bet that pub is empty now' when the police were all around.

Sad stuff when a community policing/relations officer gets hit - and worse if it was deliberate. Who knows, but smells poss drugs-related and maybe someone was getting desperate.

Always seems to be the "soft targets" that go down - the "hard end" can go thru a lifetime in law enforcement and rare if they see more than one partner get killed (excluding the US!!)

Hope they track the idiot down.

Vitasoy 08-18-2006 08:12 PM

Damn.. never like reading news like this :(

Shit... hard to believe some of the stuff going on in the UK at the moment...

The sicko was only sentenced in May and now wants a review of his sentence - DUH??

Quote:

Murderer challenges life sentence

Convicted sex attacker John McGrady is to challenge the whole life sentence imposed on him for the murder and mutilation of a 15-year-old girl.

Former butcher McGrady, 48, admitted killing Rochelle Holness, who vanished on 25 September last year after she left home to call her boyfriend.

He was sentenced by a judge at the Old Bailey in May.

His bid to overturn the whole life term is to be heard at the Court of Appeal in London at a date to be fixed.

His victim's mutilated body was found in five black plastic bin bags near a rubbish chute in Milford Towers, Catford, south London, where McGrady lived.

Sarah_Jayne 08-19-2006 01:56 AM

Catford is amazinly close to my area too.

But just remember people appeal all the time (not just in the UK either) but it doesn't mean they get it.

RayBonga 08-19-2006 02:40 AM

That's fucked up. Hope they the guy who did it.

RIP

Sure Sarah... Just seems odd that a guy with previous convictions for rape, indecent assault and false imprisonment goes out and grabs a 15 year old kid, strangles her and carves her body into nine sections with a hacksaw, - gets sentenced on May and expects a favorable hearing from the Court of Appeal four months later.

The appeal is apparently going to be based on his admission in April (one month before sentencing) that he did, in fact, kill the victim and he's now full of remorse. Don't you just want to weep for him - poor lad :Oh crap

Forensics couldn't establish if he sexually assaulted her - the body was mutilated beyond that level.

Think if I committed an offense like that and "felt remorse" - I'd be shutting my mouth and accepting the sentence :)

Gotta watch out for who you think your friends are around there :winkwink:

PS Like most stuff, there's always a background story which will prob never be known and may lie in the family background. He has two brothers, both of whom were IRA members and convicted for murders in the 1970's.

KRL 08-19-2006 03:03 AM

In the US about 1 cop per day dies in the line of duty.

Lykos 08-19-2006 03:05 AM

damn that really sux:(

I've said it before and I'll say it again, justice does not exist in western society. We need to bring back capital punishment for the extreme crimes like murder, when its 100% certain that the person is guilty e.g. Ian Huntly (and no 20 year death row wait like in America)

One week after their conviction - Death by firing squad !

I know my opinion is harsh, I don't know about your opinion on the matter. I think most of the time it depends on whether or not you have had to go through the pain of losing a loved one through the actions of a violent criminal and seeing the injustice of that evil fucker getting a pathetic jail sentence, hurts even more when you see that scumbag get off scot free.

You would be disgusted if you knew the full extent of how the British government pull strings for anyone associated with the IRA. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if the scumbag got a lighter sentence

If trying to be funny then you are failing miserably - if you are trying to troll, then again, not so good.
