Why is "being old" an insult here?
I've seen people make comments about people's age a lot on here. I guess I'm wondering why? I mean I can see making fun of someone for being fat, stupid, etc. But being older than someone is simply life. In x amount of years, the guy making fun of the old guy is going to be that age as well.
|
|
maybe because the average age here is 25 and most of those think that after 35 or 40 they are gonna be retired?
just a guess, never thought about it much |
|
because old people are useless
|
its a bit obvious and you know the answer...
Its common for people to make money and retire and enjoy life without working, its sad to see "older people" still pretending to be young and working to "go somewhere" or keep them busy... Thats one of the best descriptions to FAILURE imho... |

Quite true, expecially when anyone can die in the next 10 minutes.

I work adult cause I enjoy and I have to earn a living somewhere. I made enogh to retire twice and blew it. So you smart asses braggin about your big incomes may have some crow to eat some day. All kinds of things can go wrong in life and biz.... BTW most of ya don't know what real money is anyway. |

Personally, no matter how much money I make in my life, I don't think I can ever stop working. I enjoy creating things. |
some old people just cant stand doing nothing rich or poor
I see nothing wrong with being old and insults about it are not funny because they have made it there. and the insulter may not make it to that age. |
as a young gun on the board, I like old people because they have something called life experience.

You really are a dumb fuck. You don't think that some of us enjoy what we do? I have retired before. This is a lot more fun, and I get paid for it. |
|
What makes me more sad is the 40+ year olds who act like they are 8 on GFY.

perhaps the youngenz bought those fountain of youth pills off a spam and now they do not need to get older like the rest of us.

Anything involving "management" was always a matter of being 40+ with a track record - even employed our bank manager who was 50 at the time - great asset in any biz. Young folks with qualifications - ie degrees, programming languages, legal qualifications, technical ability, management training blah also have something to offer. When retirement age comes along - I sure ain't retiring from anything :) There's too much to do yet and actually like the adult biz, - not necessarily because it is the adult biz, but it offers a very wide range of options (not just net stuff), but from manufacturing, bricks and mortar to media blah. If I ever did have nothing to do - I'd prob be helping some other biz in adult get some project off the floor - not for money, just for the pleasure of seeing it work. |

I'm old, and I'm okay with being old.
Considering the fact that I actively embraced the cocaine 80's, I feel damned lucky to be old. :) |
If 45 is considered old,so be it..I wish I had the Internet when I was growing up

Trust me, there was a time that the Vegas odds-makers never thought I would make it past 25. In fact, when I divorced my first wife I took an insurance policy out on her as I was sure she would never last a year, but it's true, only the good die young. You guys are stuck with me a while. |
why not live and just think about it when your old?
|
people on this board will make fun of anyone for anything at anytime
this board is full of people that think everything on this board matters, when in reality nothing on this board matters |

People who have never been old.. know nothing about being old.. yet make fun of, ridicule.. whatever.. people that are old.. So they're doing nothing more than advertising their ignorance by attempting to comment on something that they know absolutely nothing about.. These are people with low self esteem and the only way they can feel superior (in their own mind) is to criticize others... |
I never thought I would make it to 18. Once I hit 21, I figured everything after that was gravy. That was quite awhile and a lot of gravy ago.
But, as much as I like playing golf and skiing, I also like buying & developing domains and programming. I do what I want when I want and that ain't bad. |

Ok i've got it... |

it is fun to play on though, that is for sure |
because kids are kids.
they don't know shit about shit. but they are so very sure they know every fucking thing about anything. just ask them. by the time they do know something about anything they are 45 or 50 and have kids of their own; who they will swear to you have some form of brain damage, and certainly couldn't be there very own offspring. |
nothing wrong with being old...

i didn't notice that people are making comments on age. Personally i don't care how old the person i talk to. On the contrary, age makes a person more interesting to talk to.
|
As a almost old person (42) I just ignore the old comments just like I ignore the stupid fat comments.

No matter how much the people on here want to deny it, gfy is *not* an accurate representation of general society. I think some here really believe that the rest of the world (esp. the US) pretty much thinks and behaves the same way that they do.
Almost no one I encounter in day to day life would be a typical "gfy'er". I have multiple college degrees and have only slept with two people, and this has GOT to be the only place on the face of the planet where you will be laughed at, ridiculed, and told that you're stupid for admitting it, lol. Seriously, the rest of the world is not like gfy. That's why we're being led by Curious George goes to Washington. |
