Macbook pro - operating systems questions
for those of you that use a new intel version mac - and use both mac and xp a question for ya
are you finding if your primary xp user but sometimes use mac's system are you finding that as time goes on you prefer using the mac system more? how did you dividing your drive? originally i did a majority on the xp side but now think that I should have done a 50/50 split - any suggestions? also are there any external hard-drives that can do both mac / xp - meaning 1 external drive to backup both sides of my shit? preferrably a small one that is easy to transport |
I'm loving osx, haven't even bothered to install windows on the thing.

The more times goes on, the more you'll fall in love with OS X and out of love with Windows, that is, if you're using both and you've been a Windows user in the past. That's how it worked for me anyways...
If you want an external drive to use with both, you'll have to format it FAT32 because both can read and write with it. Windows cannot see Mac HFS+ drives, Macs can read but cannot write to NTFS drives. There is another option, some windows software called MacDrive will let Windows see Mac HFS+ drives as normal drives. Might be your best option. |
osx rules, i wouldnt even bother doing anything else on a mac.

Also, for external drives. The most portable and smallest solution is to buy a 2.5" laptop drive and a USB enclosure. Works out a bit more expensive but much better to carry around because a) its smaller and b) it can be powered straight from the USB port, unlike 3.5" drives which require power adaptors.
