is your site compatible with IE7 ?

http://news.com.com/Microsoft+tags+I...?tag=nefd.lede

as a webmaster you can't ignore the upcoming IE7 and you must make sure your site still functions in this version (as some your smarter ones do with firefox), so you need to take a look at your site with IE7, fix what needs to be fixed but without dumping whatever is most usable at the moment which is IE6.
the problem is you can't have one IE6 browser and a second one with IE7 at the same time

any suggestion solving this little problem ? maybe it has a very simple solution I am missing.

Worldnet 08-13-2006 07:48 AM

Already test mine out. Works good so far.:thumbsup

Basic_man 08-13-2006 07:56 AM

Any way I can download IE7 even if I don't have a genuine version of Windows?? ;)

Garywell 08-13-2006 08:12 AM

Strange but IE7 is a browser. The new versions of browsers have to be compatible with well working in older version sites. I'll send a letter to microsoft if my sites won't be working and looking good, so the fix their problems with IE7...

I've tested IE7 a lot and I can tell you: IT SUCKS BADLY.
tabbed browsing is a joke - I don't understand why I lose the focus on the adress bar if I open a new tab. have to click on it, its sooo annoying, what was in their head?

not to mention : "click here to activate this activeX control" shit for flash movies... fortunately I have a fix for it

Naja-ram 08-15-2006 02:52 AM

headless ghost 08-15-2006 03:03 AM

IE7 ?
I just checked.
All the spyware, scumware and other garbage I want to install on your machine installs just as easy with IE7 as previous versions.
thank you letting me own your machine.

Jace 08-15-2006 03:08 AM

I have been using ie7 for like 3 months, I love it....still some bugs, but much better than ie6 and firefox

Acne 08-15-2006 03:19 AM

a lot of tgps such as CarlasChoice, DailyBasis, etc - all of those gay ass gumball designs do not work in IE7. They are all chopped up with dashed borders around every image on the page (not just the thumbs).

IE7 is great. Those of you complaining about having issues just have not taken the time to learn how to use it. You are stuck in 1998 mentality.

If you got close to 100% marked share it does get rather dificult to gain more :2 cents:

basschick 08-15-2006 03:43 AM

all our video listings start with <!-- START VID TABLE 1 --> and i was apparently leaving something out in those tags that every other browser on the planet had no problem with - except ie7. this made the entire content invisible to one of our members using ie7. he wrote and asked why we only had pics and no videos *LOL*

I've got IE7 and I ended up with a Trojan. I'm serious.

Also, I believe that IE7 is supposed to be more CSS-friendly. I would keep it on my machine to test sites I make, but never to surf for fear of being bitten by another trojan.

Install VMWARE, install xp with IE7 on a VMWARE machine.

Either way, its good that we have firefox around.. if not, the IE7 would be exactly the same as IE6 with a slightly more polished skin. Whether you like firefox or not, at least it finally got MS to improve upon their browser.

From what I've read, IE7 is still only 55% standards compliant so its going to have its quirks.

Thanks for the post. It's funny that so many users here bash IE7, when they might want to accept the inevitable IE7 issues. I thought this was a forum for professionals.

bl4h 09-04-2006 04:46 PM

microsoft wont let me install IE7...they claim i have a pirated version of xp :|

No, not an insult. I apologize if it seemed that way.

I assumed this thread would include more discussion on site compatibility and compatibility of common scripts/packages rather than cursing M$.

IE7 is inevitable. It will be installed via autoupdate to XP users. IE7 will be included in Vista. These users are our customers. They give us money if they can see the sites and use them. The switch will happen soon.

I am seeing some problems with Java and Javascript, but nothing major so far. Is anyone else having issues that we all need to know about?

The main issue for the (relatively) few adult webmasters who use CSS would seem to be that IE7 no longer recognizes the star hack. It's likely to be necessary - if hacks cannot be avoided - to create separate stylesheets for IE and place access to them within conditional comments.

topshelfdesign 09-05-2006 06:34 AM

yup yup all goin fine

Zyzz 09-05-2006 06:41 AM

There is a way to Have both IE6 and IE7 on your system at the same time
it's called "IE7 Stand Alone" I Have Tested It And It Works Just Fine :)

DateDoc 09-05-2006 07:08 AM

All fine in IE7 after a few tiny fixes :)
