They are already developing jet backpacks for that.. They have turbine engines and a full wing that straps on their back. So they can literally fly quite some distance before they switch the the parachutes.

if some dumbass like that can do that, imagine what the military can do...

Now that was awesome! I have a lot of skydives on my record and "you can fly" but not like that. SWEET!!! I would do it in a heartbeat!
