Wow, that's Amazing.

Lars, how well did you do with myspace share? still having some?

crockett 08-11-2006 10:30 AM

I still think AOL should buy myspace.. they could implement AOL chat rooms into myspace as that's the right demographic to be pushing their paid internet service at. Then they could easily merge the adult myspace users into their love.com site.

AOL could become a massive player in the Free web services on the net with a buy like that.. They have all the right pieces to put it together. Instead of slowly losing their market share they could grow big time.

Pornwolf 08-11-2006 10:38 AM

You are right Crockett. Myspace would have fit into AOL's biz plan seamlessly and perfectly. It would have made a lot of sense for them.

Unfortunately those folks over there just don't seem to have a lot of sense.

gooddomains 08-11-2006 11:03 AM

I would do it the same

FabianC 08-11-2006 12:10 PM

One of my friends is a programmer for myspace. I said the same thing to him and he explained that they're pushing so much traffic that Microsoft is working with them to test their database connectivity theories. On average they have over 500,000 simultaneous db connections at anytime. They're exceeding the limitations that Microsoft thought even possible. This combined with Google dropping 900 mil, I'd say Murdoch has a high class problem!

Ooooh it's running Microsoft Server. That explains a good bit right there.....

Microsoft is great for workstations, but their server technologies suck donkey ass for the most part.

Wonder why they're not running Oracle?

scottybuzz 08-11-2006 02:00 PM

nice stats guys

Marshal 08-11-2006 03:05 PM

i would shut down myspace, and i'm totally positive about that... :1orglaugh

bknoob 08-11-2006 03:22 PM

Tom must be pissed at the Google search deal. That money could have been his!

bknoob 08-11-2006 03:24 PM

On top of that, he could still have Myspace to sell for billions

KRL 08-11-2006 03:26 PM

Murdoch is doing very well with his MP strategy.

Sharky01276 08-12-2006 06:37 AM

I believe myspace was brought for a estimated 580 million pounds, not 500 million. Since the Rupert Murdoch has spect a enormous amount of money on making the site even more popular, im not sure if you people noticed in the states, but in england all the Radio dj's suddenly started talking about how great myspace was. Now don't tell me that wasnt a large backhand comin from some where and some one.

Also look at the amount of other celebs you can find on myspace, all brought and paid for i guarantee, i mean celebs don't even goto award ceromonies without the added incentive of a free goodie bag :) (30k's worth)

Like every one here knows you got to speculate to accumulate and Rupert Murdoch has deep pockets :)

It was bought for $580 million USD. Not pounds.
