Why is "bottled water" banned on airports?

Why are they adding bottled water to the banned items to take when we arrive our plane? What bad thing could someone do with bottled water? I don't get it, we see already what's inside the bottled water (tranparency)

Am I missing something?

bangman 08-10-2006 10:45 PM

Many different illegal drugs could be transported in a water bottle, while it still looks like regular water.

Dagwolf 08-10-2006 10:45 PM

eh, Everclear is transparent too... and flammable.

They are pretty much banning all liquids because of the recent terror threat

Ice 08-10-2006 10:49 PM

The caught a sports drink that looked normal but was tampered with. The top part was the sports drink still sealed but the bottom was a flamable liquid that could be set off with a cell phone or something like that. The news said that they even added food coloring to the liquid to match the sports drink and that if caught, they could open the drink and prove it was a sports drink due to the fact the top half was the real sports drink

Chio The Pirate 08-10-2006 10:56 PM

YARGH! They were planning on filling the cockpit with water, and drownin' the pilots.

YARGH! Take that ye water fillin' fruity fruity bearded crazy Allah guys!

I know that.

My point was, why are they banning it now? After 9/11 it was still allowed, and it's supposed that they could make many attacks, if a bottle water is so dangerous.

Also, if someone really wants to make an attack, they can easily do it, of course not in this moment, but it's obvious those muslims were tricked this time, by someone else.

A woman can hide C4 in her hair for example. and the scotland yard doesn't taste every woman's hair to see if she has something.

Thousands and thousands travel every day and it's impossible to take care of everyone.

Right now, the world is under alert, but maybe in 3 or 4 months when all get back to normal, almost everyone will be able (if he wants) to make something bad.

heywood 08-10-2006 11:08 PM

something seems really, really fishy about this one.

it inspired some copycats in my area today.

Were you high when you wrote that? I am just curious... not like I have anything against being high, but that was the single most DUH statement I have read in at least a week.

baddog 08-10-2006 11:09 PM

probably because they don't want to do a chemical test to verify it is really water

L-Pink 08-10-2006 11:16 PM

Alcohol is pretty flammable and is clear as water .....

american pervert 08-10-2006 11:16 PM

b/c of the muslims!

StickyGreen 08-10-2006 11:17 PM

because the new type of bombs involve liquids, so of course they are going to go overboard with security regarding any kind of liquids...

madawgz 08-10-2006 11:20 PM

because liquid bombs can be placed in them :\

Some smart ass finance guy told the airlines to get out of operating loss, they need to sell sodas and water for $5 during the flights. So enjoy your most expensive soft drinks on the planes.

You haven't been reading GFY for the last two days, then. :1orglaugh It's been a tardfest.

godisdead 08-11-2006 12:18 AM

Good lord. These guys are really into details. Maybe they should just list what they don't ban, just to make the list shorter. How about this: "You may wear the underwear we give you, nothing else. No luggage on board. Period."

mmmm... scare tactics are delicious.

jizzy.b 08-11-2006 04:00 AM

Just grab some sodium bicarbonate, fill it in a bottle of sparkling water, coke or vinegar. Put the cap on the bottle and shake shake shake. Get away from the bottle, especially if the bottle is made of glas

Translated into proper British English

Were you consuming marijuana when you wrote that? I am just curious... not like I have anything against people consuming marijuana, but that was the single most idiotic statement I have read in at least a week.

Th!nk 08-11-2006 09:58 AM

Any product that could possibly be used to bring in a liquid explosive is being banned. Its as simple as that.

Tdog 08-11-2006 10:08 AM

Lets just hope they dont start banning laptops, or maybe they have.

Satan 08-11-2006 10:09 AM

You pay to fly, and by paying your using there service, WHich means they can make any rule they want

The bombs were going to be a peroxide based explosive I think which would appear clear yet be highly flamable when mixed with a couple other fluids, they were going to use small electronic devices as detinators... It would basicly be like an explosive slushy...

HpicAnn 08-11-2006 11:11 AM

Many kind of drugs and transparent liquid can be hidden in that bottle water! Do a Google search ;)

Might I suggest you spend some time on cnn.com or news.myay.com and get caught up with reality before you ask the truly dumb questions.

As long as you are flying within the states or TO the UK, you may have your laptop in the cabin with you. If you are flying FROM the UK, you have to check everything. You are only allowed to carry on a wallet with your ID's passport, airline ticket and credit cards.
