I don't live with my parents (they live 5 hours drive from me) and I think the only thing they would be REALLY agaisn't, and I mean stand up pretty bad, is me driving a bike.

He lives with them... imagine the mess.

I'm sure if he really wanted he could just get one and ride it, but some people like to respect their parents wishes so far as possible. Nothing wrong with that, used to be the norm.
