What effect will new flight regulations have on the Amsterdam show?

Ignore this if it was asked already, but most US flights go through UK to Amsterdam...what impact will it have on the show? Is anyone going to cancel now? I'm not checking in my laptop, ipaq and ipod, fuck that! Is it worth bowing out while they are honoring refunds?
.
.
Thoughts?

For any flights through UK:
New Security Measures
In order to address the higher risk, the Department of Homeland Security has implemented the following new security measures until further notice.

Carry-on baggage must be limited to accessible property in a single transparent sealable plastic bag. Only one bag per passenger will be allowed beyond the security checkpoint or onboard the aircraft. Contents of the bag may only include:

Pocket size wallets and pocket size purses?not handbags?plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards).
Travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets).
Prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (such as diabetic kit) except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.
Spectacles and sunglasses without cases and contact lens holders without bottles of solution.
Baby food, milk and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies/diapers, wipes, creams, and disposal bags) when traveling with an infant.
Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (such as tampons, pads, towels and wipes).
Tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs.
Keys, but no electrical key fobs (remote control door openers).

RayVega 08-10-2006 03:04 PM

also:
Other restrictions include:

Nothing may be carried in the pockets.
You will be hand searched, and your footwear and any items you are carrying must be x-ray screened.
Pushchairs/wheelchairs and walking aids must be x-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point.
No liquids or gels are permitted past security check points with the exception of those items listed above as acceptable carry-on items. Examples of liquids and gels included in these security measures are:
Beverages
Shampoo
Suntan Lotion
Creams
Toothpaste
Hair Gel
Other items of similar consistency
Also, you will not be allowed to bring any liquids or gels purchased after passing through the security checkpoint onboard the aircraft. Any beverages or liquids you purchase in the airport (including fragrance items and toiletries) will have to be consumed or discarded before you board.

I've gone about five times and always have a stop off in UK. then it's like a 45 min trip to Amsterdam. Double the price for a direct flight if you can get one without booking way in advance. But then again that's coming from my travel agent so they probably make a fuckin commission.

And even for direct flights in and out of US to other countries there are other new restrictions now...this sucks.

In this case I'll probably pay the extra for a direct flight if it means I can carry on my laptop/phone/ipod...etc. I have to check available flights.

Do you have a URL for this stuff?

L-Pink 08-10-2006 05:18 PM

For those that enjoy (occasionally pay for) a good cavity search the flight should be delightful .....
