U-ahul that stuff yourself. You will save a ton of money. The ride may suck, but think of the view that you will get along the way.

I used McCollister's Transportation Group, an independent agent for United Van Lines, to move from New Jersey to Louisiana a few years ago. I don't remember how much I paid but I was very pleased with them. I didn't lose anything in the move.

According to the link below, they have a location in Dallas, TX.

When Machinegunkelly and I moved we used United Van Lines. We were in Quebec and relocated near Toronto about 517 km. We brought everything from our 3 bedroom house including hauling a car. I don't remember exact numbers but it was a reasonable price I would think, considering the distance and what we had to bring with us.

You can also have them come to your place and give you a quote.

What did we lose? Nothing from the moving company..

We used Atlas....from Washington State to Georgia....we moved the contents of two households, plus a car...if I remember correctly, it cost us around 6 grand.

I used them when I moved from Tucson back up to Vancouver. I believe it was United.

A little warning:

Everyone will low-ball your estimate. Prepare to spend much more once everythign is on the truck and in their possession. They make you pay the bill before they drop it off at the destination.

Also, be sure to pack everything EXTRA securely padded. All liability is on you for breakage unless it was packed properly and still broke. We had over $400 in damage to items, and they only covered $150 of it.

I used a U-pack-it type hauling company.. as long as you are good at packing your fine.. if your not, your shit will be broke.. mine came out perfect.

You could try uShip.com. Worked real well for me to get some shit moved halfway across the country cheap.
