designers of GFY
 

So, heres a post i made on another thread i wanted to get special attention to see what you guys thought:

On a more positive note, it would be cool if someone put together a 'designers of gfy' site or something, where anyone could post a site or multiple sites, banners, whatever that they've done or are working on that people can peruse anytime at their leisure.

Something uncommercialized without pricetags affixed to it or anything where everyone could see the work of people who they dont know or designs they'd normally never see and contact the people privately if they're interestred in their work. I would dig this.

anything think this is a good idea? stupid idea? any volunteers to host?

We'd host it contingent on if the BW started getting too silly that the guys would pitch in a few dollars towards it. :)

Sounds like not a bad idea, Would need to have it sorted out pretty clearly though.

eg: only a certain amount of your own sites are allowed to be on the gfy site. eg: 3, so when you have a new one to add you can take one down then put the other up, just so that people dont have their whole portfolio on the site. :)

It's amazing just how much publicity this contest has generated both on GFY and other boards.This idea would be the perfect tool to continually showcase everyones work now that all of this untapped talent has been revealed.If your idea goes ahead i would definately be interested in submitting some designs.

i think it would be excellent mostly because any ol jackass could submit a design, someone who isnt a professional designer or doesn't consider themselves a very good one, and someone else might really like their work. sometimes very simple designs end up looking a lot better than the designer realizes, because it seems so "eazy" to him, when the important part isnt the amount of work that goes into it but rather how nice it looks. Also when people post their amateur designs on this board, especially if they affix some value to their work ie "i do sites like this for $350" people rip them a new asshole and they get shot down left and right. it would be cool if they could just post it on a central webpage, and let the viewer decide what they liked based on its merits without outside influence or it becomming a big joke.
