What is the worst investment you ever made?

Mine easily would be my education. It was fun but it is not practical in my life as a real world tool.

Tech stock - a virtual keyboard product.
Lost a lot of money because the company could not produce.

Trusting an asshole with money - my mistake.

Tho backback time came with 12 years in a jail cell for the little that did - but at least keeps the trash off the streets.

The first one was a pretty good investment, but the third and current one is a sure fire winner. :thumbsup

Tech stocks in 99. Put a bunch of money into a company that was going public. Never happened and I was out the money.

Years ago, I loaded up on Phillip Morris call options, and three days after that, the gov't announced they're multi-billion dollar law suit against big tobacco......sometimes you just gotta laugh when stuff like that happens:winkwink: :winkwink:

My college degree. I've lost to much money and time on that I probably wouldn't have a chance to use it in my life..

clicker 08-08-2006 06:12 AM

I invested in satellite tv in 1999. Once i was paying Verizon for my phones, yellowpages and internet and they started to sell the service also I was done. The companies I were promoting really onely used me for gathering infromation on the market then took the best marketing I had out from under me. 6 day weeks, bitching customers, bitching employees etc etc I had enough.
I made $240 a year and spent $240 year with hardly any money for myself.
Best advise I can give is have enough cash flow to hold you over in the slow times and limit your partnerships.

I will also say to invest with your mind not your heart. Its not what you like
its what the market wants. Only bring in your heart when the passion to continue is needed.

KRL 08-08-2006 06:18 AM

Several tech stocks that nosedived into the abyss of the dotcom bust.

When I finished high school I had been working in tech for a couple of years already and had quite a nice savings for college... I started working at a new dotcom with a couple of great products, and decided to invest it all in the company I was working for... after about 6 months the bubble burst, the stock plumetted, and then the CDNX found out the company was doing all sorts of shady shit and halted trading so I couldn't even dump my shares for pennies on the dollar...

So no college for me.

wow, for me it's the reverse, education was the best investment I've ever made, sure it's not THAT useful, but the experience was priceless in my opinion...

i agree. You may not need you certificate, diploma, but you had experience, you met people, then you may say that was not a bad investment.
