Brand new to the buisness, I have some questions?

I know this forum is mostly dedicated to the webmastering side of the porn world.

I am looking for information that would be usefull to a begining content provider.

Some questions:

1. Federal/Provincial Regulations/Laws for Canada/Manitoba
2. Liscence information?
3. Who buys content?
4. Example contracts for models?
5. Any example buisness plans/models for such a company?

Thanks for your time, if I have posted this somewhere it shouldnt go, please move it to a better location!

YARGH! I hate when people respond to help questions the way I'm about to, but .... Seek out a competent attorney that deals specifically with this type of advice in your Country. They'll know more than most here about how you should set things up.

If you are serious about your business take it seriously, and seek out a professionals help.

Nym 08-08-2006 02:24 AM

Lawyers

Oh definately, I plan on getting full professional help if I decide to make a go of it.

Right now I am just looking at my options, getting an idea of what im getting myself into.

I'll spend the $600/hr on legal support once I get a feel for the atmosphere.

Nym 08-08-2006 02:25 AM

I guess what im trying to say is:

GFY is to Webmastering as ??? is to content providing?

Welcome to GFY. Good way to start here!

Rochard 08-08-2006 08:03 AM

1. Federal/Provincial Regulations/Laws for Canada/Manitoba
I can't help here because I'm not Canandian and haven't paid much attention to Canandian laws. Most Canandian companies also follow US law, such as 2257. Just good business practice in the event your hosting company is located in the US.

2. Liscence information?
This question needs to be much more specific.

3. Who buys content?
Site / Program owners who need content to make up their member's areas buy content. You can shoot the content yourself but it's expensive, takes a lot of time, and chances are won't be nearly as good. There's two kinds of content, exclusive and non exclusive. Non exclusive is sold in bulk and doesn't caught nearly as much. Exclusive content - meaning it's shot only for you and is never seen on any other side - is much better.

4. Example contracts for models?
Google is you friend. Search for "model release" and you'll find dozens of examples. Modify it to fit your own needs. I have yet to hear of someone who really needed a model release; It's important to have but I doubt you'll ever be called to produce one in a court of law.

5. Any example buisness plans/models for such a company?
Business plans differ from person to person and company to company. Usually the end goal is to sell an adult website, either your own or someone elses. Some of us sell feeds (plug ins to other sites) or cam sites or penis pills or what not.

I like newbies who are smart enough to ask questions. If you have any more questions feel free to email me at rochard < at > adult.com
