Attacked and Punched for smiling

My buddy was walking out of the store and smiling, cause he's just a happy guy and always smiling, when two dudes passed him and one said "WTF are you smiling at?" He replied "Nothing, sorry man" and walked to his car in the lot.

When he sat down in his car he got socked in the jaw a few times from the window side (had his window down) and got hit unexpectedly, he didn't even saw it coming.

He dragged out of the car and the two guys started punching him.

All for no reason, just because he looked happy. He did file a police report. And know he's all bruised up and has cuts from where he hit the ground

The guys ran away but a police report was filed.

What is wrong with people?

Yea, Southern California.

It's like people don't want you to be happy. They think you are "Fucking" with them cause you look happy. I guess everyone should look pissed or neutral now so they don't get punched?

He's not doing great, he's staying at my house and I will prolly take him to the doctor tomorrow cause his jaw and head is throbbing. I don't think he needs to go to the ER cause he's not bleeding (he also refuses to go to the ER), but he's sore and cut. (Not seriiosly though I don't think).

Also it was 2 on 1. The guy that punched him had a buddy with him, and the threw the first hit, a cheap shot on the side and it was unexpected so he couldn't prepare himself.

I moved from there some time ago. It reminded me of a similar situation I heard from a friend of mine who went back there to visit from Texas. Same shit happened to him.

Yea it could be, I didn't even think about that. It does seem crazy and really bizarre to just start punching someone out of nowhere and for no apparent reason. I can only imagine what these guys would do to someone they really have shit with.

I guess I can't argue much with my friend now that he wants a gun. I'm not pro weapon at all but I can see why people need them.

His jaw is fucked now and it hurts him when he eats.
