WARNING! Pics are a little squimish!

Remember almost 2 years ago when my nephew had a stroke? Well, I once again want to thank everyone that helped even though I've thanked you all before, I'm doing it again. Anyway, a few months ago he had more tests done on his brain and I got some pics. These are a little graphics, but I just wanted to show some of the stuff he's dealing with.

His left arm is still paralized and they are not sure if it will ever come back to its original state.

awww poor little guy...breaks my heart to see little ones suffer.

ya it wasn't a fun thing for him to go through, Kids should not have to go through shit like this.

Poor lil guy..I hope he comes through O.K.

he's doing ok right now, but there are still some problems and he is much more aggressive and violent towards people and animals.. This whole situation did not do a whole lot of good.

so half of the brain is just dead.

I agree, it's not a just world by any means...but I hope he makes a nice recovery. I wish the little guy all the best.

That's really sad, man. He's too young to suffer that thing.

Though it's not good for this situation for anyone, it's great it happened while he was young. The body?s ability to heal, adjust and compensate, is much better when we're younger. God speed on his way to recovery.

Umm... can someone explain why the images look the way they do?

As in why the head is recessed? It looks as though some of the brain was removed to help stop the seizing. It?s not uncommon for them to take out half your brain in order to stop the most severe cases of seizures.

will they in time be able to do surgery on his skull to make it more normal looking?

his behaviour has been affected - what about intelligence? will he be of normal or close to normal, able to get a job later in life?

life is brutal - this poor guy got handed a raw deal. but the only thing any of us can do is do the best we can with the cards we are dealt.

I'm by no means an expert on the subject but I've had some dealing with this, my cousin's sister-in-law had to go through something very similar when she was older. They can make the head look normal by injecting a saline solution where the removed brain material was.

His life will be fairly close to normal if his problem was similar to my cousin?s sister-in-law, in fact he should have a much easier time recovering and adjusting. He?ll most likely have problems with the left side of his body, especially his arm, but since he?s so young he may be able to recover a good majority of its mobility.

My cousin?s sister-in-law has the majority of her function back (she had the surgery when she was in her mid to late teens I believe), except she cannot move her pinky or the ring finger very well and occasionally her arm will be nearly completely unresponsive. Other than that, she does really great, completed college (she majored in political science? poor woman) and got married not to long ago.

The little kid?s life should be as equal if not better than hers? the human body, especially when we?re young, has an absolutely phenomenal ability to recuperate and adapt. It?s amazing we can live nearly completely normal lives with only half a brain.

oh my...it breaks my heart to see little ones suffer this kinds of hurt. I pray he'll be ok soon.

They already started to replace the piece of skull that was missing. that piece of skull deteriorate on its own.
