This is how stupid our Gov't is...

Ok, I am reading the LA times today, and on the cover of the Calendar section is a story about a guy in Silverlake who has perfected a way to convert old diesel engines into engines that run off of 100% vegetable oil. I say again 100%, not the Biodiesel stuff you've heard about, but 100% vegetable oil. No, special diesel need to start, or anything, just pure 100% vegetable oil.

He charges $700 to convert old cars. He sells old diesel Mercedes Benz for about $3,500 - $9,000. His business is doing good, has a waiting list of people wanting cars.

He even sells kits so you can filter old used McDonalds oil to use.

Here's where the stupid part of our Gov't comes in. The fucking EPA has said that 100% vegetable oil is not an approved form of fuel by them, so anyone using it can and will be fined $2,000 up to $32,500.

So, in order to make it "legal" the guy has to add Diesel fuel to the mixture there by making it legal and more "dirty" and polluting.

Also, the Gov't is having a fit because they are not sure how to charge Fuel Tax on recycled vegetable oil...

We should all just shoot ourselves in the head now, because we will never win. Now matter what we do or how hard we try to make things better for ourselves, the fucking Gov't, who by the way was put in place to make things better for ourselves, will just come along and fucking ruin it.

Sly 08-05-2006 07:05 PM

How do you know the government is having a fit because they can't charge gas taxes on a very limited number of people?

Yappo.

Because I read the article, and that's what is said...

KRL 08-05-2006 07:14 PM

This is what we get for our $460 Billion a year sent to the Department of Defense:

http://www.vanityfair.com/features/general/060801fege01

:Oh crap :Oh crap :Oh crap

Now that's some scary shit.

On 9/11 NORAD thought it was just a simulation exercise.

On 9/11 the USA had only 2 fighter jets on each of 7 bases around the nation on duty to protect the entire continental United States.

If the gov't can't figure out a way to make money off of peoples' ideas, they just prohibit it from happening..

and the oil companies/Bush cronies aren't about to let such an idea
become a viable option..

Sly read it also ... not!

On topic, this administration is an OIL admin, and has a lot of " political payback " to do ....

If I was that guy, I would be scared for my life :2 cents:

Here is a kit that makes the fuel ready to use without modifying the car.
http://sweethomebiofuel.com/

He has I believe about 120,000 miles on his Ford, and it still runs strong. Runs on any kind of vegetable oil, soybean, etc. I haven't talked to him in a few months, but he said at one time taht people have to process the fuel themselves as if he sells it by the gallon it would be illegal.

I should add that he spilled 500 gallons of that stuff on his property, no hazmat needed. Much better than diesel in all aspects.

czarina 08-05-2006 07:20 PM

That is nothing new. I know a guy that has a car that runs that way. It is a pain in the ass, but could be worth it, providing you dont mind the slow power of the engine

You're right, this is nothing new. When the inventor of the Diesel engine unveiled his engine at the 1900 worlds fair, he did so by running it off of 100% Peanut Oil.

It's not Biofuel, it's Vegetable oil. You can go to Costco buy a barrel of 100% Soybean oil pour in the tank and go. There is no fuel conversion needed. It runs on one tank, not two, like other biofuel cars.

It costs $700 to convert your car, he has also patented a do-it-yourself kit that will soon be available.

Here is the article for those interested.

I think all fast food places need to start using cars like this for advertisement. Imagine all the delicious smells that come from all the used oil from various fast food places... mmmm... have some pizza hut delivery vehicles run off of that. God damn that would be a kickass way to advertise, a delivery car plastered with pizza hut logos and that actually smells like a pizza. So many people would be ordering pizza that night.

Pleasurepays 08-05-2006 07:47 PM

you can run a car on smoke from burning wood chips.

That's almost exactly what I said to my gf. But, I said that I predict there will be "additives" so you can make your car smell like whatever you want.

BTW, this technology nothing new. Its been going on since the 1980s. I have followed the entire movement for most of the time I have been on this planet and able to read.

And this isnt so much a statement of how stupid the government is. In fact, it seems to be more of a statement of how stupid the citizens of this country are and how smart the government is.

I have looked at buying a car and converting it, but I dont really have the time to deal with all of the mess and hassle assoicated with procuring and processing the oil. But I can tell you that if I did buy one and the EPA came out and fined me, I'd take it all the way up to and including putting a bullet between the eyes of the agents they'd send to arrest me or take my personal private property when I ignored thier warnings and sanctions and fines.

We need more people who are willing to put thier foot down and say "No!" and actually mean it. But we'll never have it. Because there are far too many people in this country who no longer care about true freedom and are quite willing to go along with whatever master plan the government puts forth so long as they can go to thier pathetic little jobs, live thier patheitic little lives in thier pathetic little homes located in pathetic little neighborhoods in which they drive thier pathetic SUVs and raise thier pathetic little kids (which seem to turn out to be more pathetic than thier pathetic parents) and then die a patheitc little death without accomplishing anything during thier time here other than managing to consume resources and pollute the ground with fecal matter and consume oxygen.

reynold 08-06-2006 08:41 PM

That achievement is indeed remarkable. Unfortunately, for a government who will do everything to protect some selfish interests, that good news is practically useless.

I repeat, this is not Biofuel or Biodiesel, these cars run off of 100% Vegetable oil, straight from the bottle, nothing else. No extra diesel used to start the car, nothing, just 100% Vegetable oil... Wesson baby.

biftek 08-06-2006 08:57 PM

I didnt miss that part. Its still not new technology. None the less, its good to see that someone has made a viable product out of it. In order to do it before, you had to be pretty damn knowledgeable about cars, engines and the like. Now he has a simple bolt on soultion, which is good for the people who cant figure the other stuff out...

LiveDose 08-07-2006 12:15 AM

What kind of mileage?

dRI-X 08-07-2006 12:19 AM

its all bout the taxpayers money...your government cannot pay its debt from other sources other than the oil you guys imported from other countries especially in the middle east. we also had the same idea back here in our country, so to speak, our gov't didn't support it also.

godisdead 08-07-2006 12:41 AM

There have also been cool electric cars in existence. Also taken down.

they have been doing this kind of shit for ages. big corporations run all the shit. there have been so many new inventions which could all but rid the world of the oil crisis. the people who come up with these inventions are bought out by big corporations instantly for a one time lump sum. then you never see those inventions ever again and the saga continues.

Dust in the wind. Sad Amigo and they make you love that US brainwash! :rasta

spider_x 08-07-2006 11:15 PM

Look for an independent film called Free Energy. These innovations have been going on since early nineties. It is easy to make engines with zero carbon emissions from viable fuel sources which are discarded by large oil companies. These smalltime inventors have been neglected for years this is nothing new.

tiger 08-08-2006 12:19 AM

A better question is why we are pursuing this corn ethanol bullshit when sugar ethanol is about 100 times better.

Had a professor back in 1996 that was driving around campus in a little car powered by a block of calicum or some shit, I can't remember.

You really have to ask? Cuz the fucking states that pretty much decide the President grow corn. It's twice as expensive and just fucking stupid as shit, aka The American way.

Being you are usually wrong about everything means he probably is not a fraud.
Wheres the proof?
Or at least elaborate on your opinion...

notabook 08-08-2006 03:59 AM

*yawns*

There is no such thing as free energy. Google Joseph Newman + Fraud and begin reading. You're in for a long morning. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Seriously... it's so sad that people really think you can get energy from nothing. I love all of their silly magnetic devices. Seriously man, the guy is a big douche bag. If he had this magical perpetual motion device you don't think he'd be selling it to the masses? Or hold some kind of huge demonstration for the world to see?

No?

Why not? He's "afraid" of the government? Big Oil?

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

If something like this were to work, why wouldn't Big Oil just grab it up for themselves instead of spending billions upon billions of dollars in research and drilling? Look at how much profit Big Oil could make then eh? "Big Oil... N-FORCE technology oOOooOoo PRETTY!"

I need some weed.
