I don't know if this has been posted. Interesting times ahead for AOL

I heard they were offering free email.

AOL for broad is more like a advertisment start page anyways. Bassicly like a yahoo that you have to download, pay for, and don't get as many features. :2 cents:

The only thing that I have ever liked about AOL is they seem to keep your e-mail for life. I got an e-mail @ AOL when the local isp I used went bust in 96, when another isp came in here I got rid of aol in late 97 and the e-mail is still functioning today by using their AIM mail feature. Quite amazing... I didn't know it was still active, I logged in to the e-mail and it had had over 50,000 messages lmao. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

With such a huge base (despite erosion by 30%), it still has a big advertising base. It's kinda saddening to see how they fell off from their 2000 peak form.

The same person who would keep clicking Google Adsense ads or sign up for paysites cuz it said $1 somewhere :winkwink: :winkwink: :thumbsup :1orglaugh

Good point. A better idea for them is to stop "aggresively advertising". Which means I will no look forward to my 3 AOL disks a week. That alone could save them, and my garbage man, millions.

WTF are they thinking. They lost 1/3 since 2002. That's not bad.

They should keep charging and just add in free services to boost advertising revenue. thats my opinion.

My parents. They live waaay out in the country and they can't get broadband yet.

Yeah, that is a good point too, very few places offer decent broadband for under $40

Plus, they also have a huge content base.

The content alone would be great traffic/link magnets. AOL should hire a webmaster to pimp the fuck out of their assets.

...and charge $5.00 for each submission.
