Good thirdparty dns host? Except Ultradns
Can anyone recommend a good thirdparty dns host?
I would like to be independent on the registrars dns system, and in the same time use a commonly used dns host to probably save a dns lookup for the name servers. Do you know any? |
I'd like to know the same thing

Bump for a good question.

Ultradns just called me again.
I gave them the amount of domains and monthly visitors. They quoted me a price on $2000/month. That's $24,000 a year. Compared to that you get almost the same service for free with a registrar then it's very difficulty to take that offer serious. What would you be willing to pay for a thirdparty dns hosting service? I think I would be willing to pay something like $100 a year pr 500 domains with unlimited traffic. |
zoneedit.com
free up to 5 domains |
If you have your own dedicated box why not setup your own?

If we use our own, then the surfers computer would have to make a dns lookup for our dns server, before it can request the domain info it really needs. But yes, you got a good point. We might end up starting a dns hosting service or something if we don't find a good one already there. |
http://afraid.org/ is the best and it's free.
