How do you paysite people upload your movies?

Most movies are like 600mb (well good ones), how do you upload this to your members server? I have like 20 movies atm (around 600mb). Dont know how im going to upload all of them to the server, lol. Its going to take for ever! :Oh crap

Should i buy another connection, like T1 or something?

Double L 08-01-2006 09:52 PM

Start them all before you go to bed... Wake up, scratch balls, shower if desired and back to work :thumbsup

Brooke Anderson 08-01-2006 10:10 PM

600mb movies? Maybe you should break them into parts, or lower the quality some. Then I use FTP Voyager to upload. Just start it and forget it.

BiggleJones 08-01-2006 10:11 PM

^ Both good responses

What he said.

Its really not an issue with the average weekly update for each site. But when we are launching a new site and uploading all the root galleries than its ussually a 2-3 day dump.

:2 cents:

No sweat, we have a 7Mbps upload here at the house so everything uploads more than fast enough. We do save the larger files for overnight though. :winkwink:

Sly 08-01-2006 10:18 PM

Most upload the same way you or I upload. However, for really massive files (several GB), you can send it to your hosting company on CD, DVD, or even hard drive and many companies will transfer it to your server for a reasonable fee.

Yappo.

Jace 08-01-2006 10:19 PM

jesus, 600mb??? We use some high quality shit on our site, and even the 30-40 minute videos never get above 300mb

regardless, set them to upload and do something else

some of my upload sessions have lasted a week, just because we do everything in bulk, so we will upload videos for the next 2 months all at once

I ftp them. Usually at night when I am sleeping. Takes a couple of hours per movie.

...but seriously folks, apparently like many others my routine is to upload movies before I go to bed.

When I have a super mega project, I give my ISP a hard drive with the data, and he connects it directly to the server, and the next you know...voila!!!

Yup, I agree with the latter. Takes them very little time to toss all of the movies onto your server.

Jakke PNG 08-02-2006 01:56 AM

Fill a HD with content and send it to your host. In this modern day, it's faster to UPS shit than to upload it. lol.

rokko666 08-02-2006 02:01 AM

Yo!

well you can try ftp`s by using totalcomander,or submiter softs for much smaller .mpg's or other formats:thumbsup

Antonio 08-02-2006 02:03 AM

slice them, taht's way too big, I think mine are 100 mbs the most

also if one of your hosts has faster coonection than you have at home then you can download them there when you buy them form the content provider (or from the sponsor's site), and then upload them to your other hosts

in my case one of my servers has 100 times faster connection than the one I have at home so it makes sense

basschick 08-02-2006 02:16 AM

i don't have balls, but otherwise totally agree.

if you're starting a new site and have lots of videos to upload, why not just mail a harddrive or a few DVDs full of them to your host and let them put them on the server for you?

Paul Markham 08-02-2006 04:25 AM

Only 600MB, you have an easy life. :1orglaugh We have movies that run into 4 GIGS by the time we add the images, samples, full scene, cuts Mpeg and WMV versions.

Only one way to do it, get a decent connection and use something like FileZilla and load them up over night. In the morning everything is done.

Our editor comes in every Monday morning with 4-6 new scenes. By Tuesday they are all up on the site.

I upgraded my cable connection to the basic business plan for $100 bucks a month I get 3 Mbps upload stuff goes up fast

webmasters love the transfer speed when I send them stuff cause it flys across the net to them

woj 08-02-2006 08:15 AM

just upload it, or put it on a hd, and ship it to the host...

kaktuz 08-02-2006 08:20 AM

^^^ good suggestion to drop like 50 dvds at once.

BUT why not simply buy faster upload from your host?

Sosa 08-02-2006 08:23 AM

Try to get a faster upload speed like others have said, or send the hard drive / dvd off to your host.

chase 08-02-2006 10:57 AM

I've got 15Mbps, according to my provider, but it's really closer to 10.

I usually upload while I'm asleep, too, but I don't sleep long, so I need a fast connection.

True dat. schedule, load up your FTP. Go to bed. Wake up, and back toe work.

I do not have files THAT big but on those larger,.. best way to do it. Although I have a T1, and cable connection. So it doesn't stop me from working. It just ties up one computer.

DutchTeenCash 08-02-2006 12:05 PM

cms does that

in parts 40-50mb each otherwise dailup users arent really happy
