Any Volvo drivers here?

How do you like it?

Reliable?
They're apparently really safe and that's big for me. I like safety.
All around good family car
Low ego emission

I love that commercial with people in their expensive cars with their windows rolled down, holding up speakers, saying stuff like "Because I make more money than you..." and "Because I'm making up for my shortcomings" lol

I'm thinking a Volvo would be my ideal car.

Deraj 08-01-2006 08:04 PM

I drive a Vulva ;)

BIGTYMER 08-01-2006 08:05 PM

They're safe. And that is all I've got to say about them.

gotekix 08-01-2006 08:24 PM

I used to drive an 850GLT... slow, boring, but safe I guess.

Juilan 08-01-2006 08:25 PM

My first one was a '66, engine caught on fire while driving new years eve night. Good times.

Drake 08-01-2006 08:27 PM

LOL all terrible reviews. I might have to re-consider.

LiveDose 08-01-2006 08:27 PM

My wife had an s60 a while back. It had little quirks and repairs needed but overall reliable. As said earlier it too was slow and boring. The engine felt flat.

Drake 08-01-2006 08:31 PM

I'm ok with boring... but I need some power. Nothing super fast, but more power than a Honda Civic. I see it as a safety feature ,for example when you want to pass other cars on the highway effectively.

Vente 08-01-2006 10:57 PM

Volvo

Go with an s60. It rocks. I have one. Zero problems so far, reliable as hell. Great family car. Don't go for s80... For power just get the 5-cylinder turbo edition.

Antonio 08-01-2006 11:32 PM

I hope that I'll be one in the next 12 months (Volvo driver)

simpy ignore all the negative reviews - these people either have driven the ancient models or have no clue what they're talking about

Volvo came long way from their coffin-look-alike earlier models

Not sure where you live but over here similar class Vovlo will cost you as much as similar class BMW, and it will perform as well, so not so sure why you think that they're cheap????

Bigfuck 08-01-2006 11:42 PM

If you want a car for the family Volvo is one of the best
get a XC70 or V70 and if you need more speed
get the T5 engine

volvo IS reliable and safe.. I drove one for about 1 and 1/2 year.. v70 D5 (Volvos Diesel cars always got turbo btw.)

Got about 170-180 hp I think.. not a racing car exactly but it gets the job done..

850 is also a great car aswell as the s60.. and if you have any problems with the 850, there's always a ton of spare parts to get.. not to expensive either!

Got for it..

OT: VOLVO is latin and means "I roll" or "I'm rolling"

A Volvo will safe your life, be very comfy and run for 500k miles without a problem.

Their 'safe' reputation is because they used side impact beams long, long before they became mandatory in 1997.

These days... just re-branded fords.

basschick 08-02-2006 02:26 AM

i drove a volvo wagon (i'm a bassplayer - gotta have room for my stack) for years and that thing was a tank. it also had nice tight steering and seat warmers - the stereo sounded good, too.

btw, volvos really ARE safe. we were once rear ended by a volvo wagon when i was driving a toyota and the volvo crumple zone not only protected the volvo and its passengers but actually did less damage to my car as well.

Volvo are good cars...I really like the S60 and the XC90....

I owned a 340 when I was a student btw :) Loved that one as well:)
