How safe will the internet connection at the westin diplomat be?

I'm sure more than 5% of the people plugging in know what a packet sniffer etc. is. Or if its wireless, they probably know enough to capture data & decrypt it later.
My question is, how safe will icq/aim conversations be for running business while we're at the show? Has the westin taken the proper precautions. |

i highly doubt it, last year it was just a straight ope network with a firewall on the line.

so basically don't login aim/icq...or login any websites requiring a user/pass
got ya....guess we'll goto starbucks to check up on our designers |

awesome...why can't anyone setup a fucking secure connection for businessmen

THere was a funny packet sniffing program we found in Vegas 4 years ago.

most hotels have no idea what they are doing when setting up thier systems. i wouldn't trust it.

seems to me this is a question that should be directed to the westin..why would anyone here know what precautions they may or may not have in place?

If they are like most hotels you will be lucky to have a decent connection anyway

just setup a vpn or use putty to tunnel your connections in a socks4 proxy if you're worried about that.

I guess the big question would be....does westin supply tin foil hats or should you supply your own?
