PSP surfers, can you check out a site for me please?

I have been getting quite a bit of PSP traffic to my latest site (which isn't even really ready yet), but I have no idea if they're seeing what I want them to see since there's a lot of javascript, ajax and stuff.

Can any of you check this out with your PSP and let me know if it loads ok?

how do you enter text (urls etc) into the psp

portable surfing that way looks pretty neat :)

I don't wanna quit my intensive game of original Street Fighter right now, so I'll check it later. Off hand though, I can tell you most javascript and some AJAX will work.

All PSPs are wireless/internet capable. They're 802.11b compatible Always have been. In August 2005, they released a firmware update that included a web browser. The PSP also supports RSS feeds, which is why StuartD's site is getting a lot of PSP traffic.

The web browser is pretty full featured. Supports tabbed browsing (up to 3 tabs), bookmarks, cookies, some javascript, Flash 6, and forms. It's also got three display modes. You can have it display pages normally (meaning a site designed for 800x600 will have horizontal scrollbars on the PSP's 480x272 page), just-fit (it resizes page elements to make the site fit 480x272 with the original layout) or smart-fit (elements retain same size, but layout is changed to fit 480x272 - think "Word Wrap").

Do you know of an emulator for developers that don't have a PSP or a browser simulator ?

devilspost 08-02-2006 04:24 AM

Just one note. The PSP browser can only use up to 4 MB of memory. The browser uses the memory in the actual PSP and can not use any from a memory stick( not yet anyways, I believe a later firmware upgrade will allow this ). So just keep that in mind when desgining pages for it.

Though it supports RSS feeds if you are using movies the RSS reader only downloads the movies it doesn't stream them and they have to be in MP4 format.

GatorB 08-02-2006 10:05 AM

Also nothing below the AFF banner is showing on my PSP like it does on the website. So PSP surfer are't going to see any of the links.

Also some of you link have movies which are not in MP4 format so the only thing a PSP surfer can do is download it to his PSP then load it to his computer later and watch it on that. Even you pic galleries are to large for a PSP. If you really want to take advantage of PSP traffic I suggest designing a page and galleries specifically for the PSP. Even though you can surf the net with a PSP it's cumbersome and sites that are a pain in the ass to view will not get bookmarked.
