I had no choice but to upgrade to icq 5.1...
Damn, anyone knows how i can disable this user online alert?!? :mad:

Main > Preferences > Contact List > Uncheck "Notify me when contacts are online".

Why did you have no choice? Go download an older version hon. The newer they are have no difference other than cutsie crap kids use. (outside of the cam and voice options some like to use). I'm looking for the link right now for older versions of icq..... that is how I found mine. In the meantime just google "old version icq". The newer they get, the worse they get IMO.

version 3 was the best

I use old emoticons on 5.1 and I have no problem with it.

watch out for Trillian... it is 50/50. Some people swear by it, and others only complain that they caught viruses and other glitches on their notebooks.

I can't say who is right, it is different for everyone. I am part of the "50%" that had issues with it.

i think icq 5.1 is nice so don't worry :)

Who's got the banner killer for 5.1 Build 3000? All the flash BS on my laptop heats it up so much that my fan runs constantly once I get 5 or 6 message windows going.

You can set it to use old emoticons right in the preferences>skin/appearance menu. It left the old ones in place.

took me a few times to install it, my antivirus was blockin a couple of things while it was trying to install.

The install for 5.1 made my computer crash everytime I ran it. Now my ICQ is dead, can't even uninstall it!

So I have to use Trillian now

i like my 2002a version. no probs, it is fast and reliable

man icq5.1 works great the only bad thing the force you to update
