My personal take on RELIGION...
I used to believe Jesus was the son of God. I was grown up in a house without Sunday school or church and later got into it about age 18... I figured if I was going to get married and make vows I should know who I am making them to.
Later on in life I got pretty hardcore into church and really enjoyed it. Did lots of church outings and all that jazz... Then I began to realize that church is a cult. When did I learn this? When my pastor did a 2 week expose on cults and how to avoid them! Cult leaders try to keep their members from having contact with the outside (think Russia, North Korea). Church pastors can all be quoted saying things like "Marry a Christ centered women otherwise you cannot have a good marriage since she will not know how to live." Or, "Join Men of the Church groups and Bible Studies so you don't find yourself associating with people who are not Christ centered and will corrupt you." Church is a cult. People who join cults usually do because they feel a need to be a part of something bigger than themselves. They feel that by joining this entity they will gain prestige and class through the entity. Just about everyone I know who joined a church was on their last leg. They needed to believe in something bigger than themselves. Something that could give them structure. In this way Churches also mimick government. Most people in churches and especially the higher ups in a South Orange County church are assholes and very stuckup... The same could be said about Tom Cruise... Church is a cult. Now I wonder about people who go to church. Most are pretty fucked up in their daily lives and many act kinda crazy. Anyone who would listen to a book written back when people thought the Earth was flat and or the center of the universe is a nutcase... Anyone who thinks the Earth is only 6,000 years old should be locked up in a mental hospital. Now, if smart people were to blowup all places of worship, especially The Vatican and The Dome of the Rock the Earth and the people on it would probably be in a much better place. |
maybe... I haven't been in any church for 6 years about I think...

i agree. most of the 'church going christians' are the biggest 'sinners' in this country

Another twist... My brother is becoming a pastor himself... He lives and breaths the church... He won't play poker anymore because the Good Book says gambling is a sin... I am like, Dude, remember when we used to have.. FUN?!?! Now everything is about how Christ blessed someone or God had to make a tough decision and someone died or got cancer but in doing so others were saved...
I try to show him how people die and get cancer with no one near them having anything to do with God... Simple facts of life... he doesn't want to hear it... says I am a sinner too... |
ugh tl;dr

Religion is poison.
There are some good things about what religion can teach you, but in the end it's all a cult of fuckers that preach on TV and throw people into large pools of holy water yelling "you've been cleansed my brother!" And for the people that actually think that Earth is 6000 years old, and that the Earth was "placed" in just the right orbit so that life can form, I think these people should be shot on the basis that they're complete fucking morons. I love how you can ask some religious headcase an uber question about how the universe began or how life evolved, cause their answer is so simple..."god made it happen." Oh geez mister, how about a concept called evolution or even basic scientific thought? I guess ignorance can bring one happiness in some cases. |
religion like racism is a crutch for the weak

True, religion is BS. You have to be crazy to take some of the things that religion says to be true. Its funny, when you ask all these religious people how the unuverse was created, they all say it was God who created it, if God created the Universe, who created God.

Historically, almost all religion, including catholicism, have been tagged as cult on their early history. However, as years went by, these cult movements grew, established themselves, and survived. Those that did not survive the persecution either persished or remained on their ignominous state.

Religion controls the minds of the masses.

And that Giant Purple Space Goat was always there, of course. Duh!!! You gotta have some faith you know. Otherwise you could get started -shock- thinking. (AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!) And that would make baby Jesus cry. Seriously, the idea that the existence of the universe requires someone who has made it, but the existence of God doesn't, speaks volumes about the (wrong) basic premises most people have about how the universe works, namely the fundamental belief that some sort of consciousness has to be its basis. :thumbsup |
