Every since my oldest son (now 19) was very little, when he used a good word, I'd tell him. That habit continued on with my son who is now 10.

Now and then I'll be half-listening while one of them is talking. I'll make some non-commital type of reply, to hear them indignantly ask why they didn't get a "good word" over something they said that I wasn't paying attention to.

i like that too. I'd be happy to spend like that a couple of days :)
