Why the fuck does it take 4-8 weeks for a car to get here from Germany?

Can someone explain this to me? 4-8 weeks for a car to get here from Germany is bullshit! It should be more like 1 week or something. :321GFY

Trax 07-28-2006 03:48 PM

wtf are you talking about

WDchris 07-28-2006 03:48 PM

no it shouldn't

High Plains Drifter 07-28-2006 03:49 PM

yeah, they should load it on a C-130 and drop it off at your house.

Scott McD 07-28-2006 03:50 PM

Maybe they got lost...

LiveDose 07-28-2006 03:52 PM

If you understood the shipping business you would be happy with 4-8 weeks.

he-fox 07-28-2006 03:55 PM

Your car comes on a ship. They don't send a ship for every car.

SomeCreep 07-28-2006 03:56 PM

germany far away, cant drive on water

mr stabby 07-28-2006 03:56 PM

Xlogger stop whining and send me traffic, then you could "rush ship" your car by having germans piggy back it by foot in 2 weeks.

4-8 weeks, psh. Nothing since 1967 has taken that long.

DaddyHalbucks 07-28-2006 03:58 PM

It seems like a long time, but I imagine shipping a car is a complicated and slow process.

elartist 07-28-2006 03:59 PM

Wtf ?????

xlogger 07-28-2006 03:59 PM

It takes 8 weeks for a ship to get here from Germany? Damn. :Oh crap

pr0 07-28-2006 04:02 PM

beamer or mercedes?

xlogger 07-28-2006 04:04 PM

Mercedes? LOL, only old people drive that shit.

Bmw. :winkwink:

DutchTeenCash 07-28-2006 04:08 PM

8 weeks

thats what it takes to ship one, if you wanna fly one in itll take 24 hrs and a LOT of money. But 8 weeks is pretty normal.

andrej_NDC 07-28-2006 04:10 PM

The car needs to be produced first...So for example you order a car in august, but the whole september production is booked already, so your car will be produced in october and shipped within a week after its ready. Thats why.

L-Pink 07-28-2006 04:14 PM

Cargo ships don't leave every hour like airplanes do .......

DutchTeenCash 07-28-2006 04:18 PM

also depends if its RORO of container, prolly goes through Rotterdam, I could make a pic if its RORO :)

Gabriel 07-28-2006 04:21 PM

4-8 weeks is nothing, wait until you order a car and wait 4-5 months for it.

lol yeah that would be cool send some models there to inspire the guys there. I know a girl who strips in a Rotterdam club I can ask her to flash a bit see if that helps lol

georgeyw 07-28-2006 04:49 PM

probably because they wouldn't ship your car untilthey have enough cars on order to ship said number of cars or maybe an entire container ship in one go.

what car?

NastyGodCash 07-28-2006 04:50 PM

be patient man... you will get it:-)

you never shipped a car RORO I guess. Or saw a carrier.

pornguy 07-28-2006 05:01 PM

It has the cross the world. And you will be lucky to get it in one piece.

Pornwolf 07-28-2006 05:10 PM

They have to drive across antartica. It takes a long time.

have been in a carrier - irealise how big they. I was getting at costs ie company would like to reduce costs through filling either their ****PORTION**** of the ship ****OR**** the entire ship if that is the case - :2 cents:

Xlogger I got mine... remember u told me not to go by myself to the dealer cause I looked young? Well I did it anyways and I got a decent deal (I think). I tried to negotiate a bit by email first to see how low they would go. I think its best to buy a car through the net now, or to talk first via email instead of going in blind.

I had a good experience though, it wasn't that bad, but that's cause it was a top notch dealership. Other dealers I've come across have been much more shady.

I didnt get a beemer. I got an "old persons" car.

Mercedes Clk 320. I like it tho, I dont think its really an old persons car....
It's not brand new, it's a 2003 with some miles on it... I negotiated it down
to 31k... I thought that was good, with tax and the extended warranty it was more tho.

I didn't want to spend over 40k on a car, cause I wanted to pay in cash. I didn't want to get financed cause my credit is not the best right now. So I got what was right for me at the moment.

rants 07-28-2006 06:19 PM

Also even tho its used, it is certified pre-owned so I don't have to worry as much if it breaks down.

GoodGuy 07-28-2006 06:21 PM

why did you order a car in germany?

order one in your country...

you need to pay taxes when the car gets in your country and you will finish wasting the same money.

rip raster 07-28-2006 07:57 PM

I think it is because it is a very long drive :winkwink:

MaddCaz 07-28-2006 07:57 PM

couldnt tell ya whoadie
