not to mention i haven't recieved my $100 credit yet.

the layout , options, etc is so god damned time consuming compared to MSN, and Google. I ran a little $150 test campaign and it went to hell.

camuseeme 07-28-2006 08:46 AM

I've done ok with Yahoo, but your right certain keyword will eat your lunch quick. I do like their simple bidding process.

Oh yeah...adwords REALLY does suck now!!!!

stickyfingerz 07-28-2006 08:55 AM

Hmm odd I know some people on here say they are making thousands a day off a parked domain using overture with next to no traffic. :winkwink: :1orglaugh

Yes I know this is the opposite side of it. Im just poking fun. :winkwink:

Beejeebers 07-28-2006 09:00 AM

Try running a real test. $150 is not enough to make an educated decision like 'overture sucks'. Perhaps your campaign sucks and your budget sucks... :)

Bliz 07-28-2006 09:13 AM

Yeah, they've definitely been going down hill over the years. Although it depends on what you sell and how your selling it.

Right before Yahoo took over I turned off all my campains. Spent some good money over the years with Overture.

Then one day I walk into the house and my wife says, "Yahoo called and said they wanted to speak with "My Name" about "xxxxxxxx.com". Giving the full name of my adult site to anyone answering the phone. A rep wanting me to reactivate my campains.

I thought it was funny, but I'm sure a few webmasters out there wouldn't feel the same. I could only imagine some adult webmasters daughter answering the phone and finding out her father runs some site like analasswhore.com.

Paparazzi 07-28-2006 09:30 AM

tried a little with poker and most did not play at all and one that did deposit $400 was frauding the system :(

About adbrite, is the $5 a one time fee to get started or do they charge this for every site I try to advertise on? Filecabi.net just declined my application with no notes :(

Kimo 07-28-2006 10:20 AM

fuck yahoo

If you know what you are doing 150 bones is more than enough for a test. Of course different markets might take a bit more or less, but if you can't tell within 150 bucks...:helpme

I just tried them again last night after a long botclick withdrawal... Seems their affiliate network drained me too. Reminded me of MIVA, just more expensive

pocketkangaroo 07-28-2006 11:01 AM

Well Overture has a good part in my business and has always done pretty well for me.

WiredGuy 07-28-2006 11:19 AM

First off, that $100 coupon you posted takes about 2 weeks to get credited to your account. I've been using it since 1998 or so each time I setup a new account. And most of the time you do have to email them and bitch about it to get it. Next, if this is your first time using Overture, expect to lose some money, it has a high learning curve to figure out what works and what doesn't.

Will they allow me to select which sites I receive traffic from? I have shut off everything to do with partners, etc. within their admin, but am still getting a ton of traffic from xxx.com. Unfortunately traffic from there for my terms does very very poor.

WiredGuy I emailed them earlier before even rechecking on this thread. Got a call back within an hour and she told me to give them another 2 business days....so tuesday I should have it.

It definately takes some getting used to. My favorite layout/"control panel" is Adcenter by far.

Campaigns that I was seeing 200-300% ROI with on Adcenter I don't see shit with on Yahoo.

as far as Adwords goes....can't get the landing page thing down so I've given up. I see tons of landing pages that basically strictly Adsense spam getting spots (doens't appear as if cloaking is involved")...but yet my landing pages quality isn't good enough?

oh and to that prick up there that criticized my $100....this isn't fucking TGP's dick face. $150 should convert almost the same as $100,000 bucks.

MrChips 07-28-2006 04:59 PM

Mate - you need to be aware that they are only there to fuck you off and take your cash.

Thats all they do - god I could cry a river for you dude.

Dont try and talk to them - you only arm them with info for ripping you more.

Please dont talk to them.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT TALK TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CybermedAndy 07-28-2006 05:05 PM

I gave up on that fucking company 3 years ago.

They don't give a flying fuck about clickfraud- we advertised with them spending the same $500 a day on the same listings, then one day our clicks go through the roof with no conversions and we're nailed with a $2400 charge from them.

We contacted them and were met with a "shrug" "We don't see any problem".

So we dropped them. And will never use them again.

You like MSN's Adcenter? I find it really buggy, especially with large volume of keywords. Yahoo will eventually give you the credit, just be patient, they don't like giving it but they will...

SO your campaign kills on firefox? I have no clue what ppc network that is, but it's good that a BROWSER is working for you.

That is the what 99% of newbies think. (It's 100% wrong, but they still think it.) Try a real budget and a real timeframe then post how bad OV sucks. Stick to adcenter, leave the rest for the pros who know how to make money on any ppc network.

bdld 07-28-2006 08:48 PM

making a positive ROI on the big 3 is one thing.. but try doing that on the smaller PPC's, now that's sucky click-bot traffic.

Cash 07-30-2006 09:43 AM

Overture has geo-targeted ads, or not?
