Sounds like he just wants to leave and doesn't want anyone to bother him. If I was sick of a project and wanted to sever ties and try to keep people from further bothering me, I'd probably say something similar.

Yeah, well, considering what he's done for the world of PHP, someone needs to unpiss him off and bring him back.
