EPASSPORTE!! Whats This Bullshit?

In May I paid for my shopping at a grocery store with my epass card and I was charged twice for the transaction.

Epass told me that the money would come back into my account in around 30 days when it was apparent the second transaction was never gonna be taken by the grocery store.

This has never happened. Now my girlfriend has paid for stuff in two different stores and both times she has been charged twice for each transaction. I don't expect she's gonna get that back either.

You guys need to get this fixed out BIG TIME. If its happened to both of us I'm sure its happened to others as well.

Doctor Dre 07-28-2006 05:15 AM

It happened to everybody arround... anybody with a clue about epass goes to the ATM and get the money out before using it ;)

I don't even know why they would wanna allow swipe CC transactions.

woj 07-28-2006 05:17 AM

That's exactly why I would never use an epass card for any purchases...

Three times actually, once in May and now twice in July. The first time I never paid any attention because it was a measly amount but thats not the point. Second time was in the same grocery store as Ross as its just easier to pay with card (should have realised though with it happening to him) but the third time was an online transaction so there was no choice to go to the atm.

V_RocKs 07-28-2006 05:20 AM

I go to an ATM, withdrawl $2000 and then spend it in cash.

spunkmister 07-28-2006 05:22 AM

or deposit it directly to your bank account if thats an option...seems as though there are more and more epass issue threads everyday...

Ross 07-28-2006 05:29 AM

Its really annoying how a big company like them can fuck up so many different ways.

Please contact me with your account name and we will look into.

What happens is that the merchant places a pending authorization to ensure there is money on the card. Then when they process the transaction they don't lift the pending charge.

The pending charge will drop in about 30 days and the money will be returned to your account.

When a pending charge is dropped you won't see a post on your statement adding the money to your account.
The original post on your statement is deleted and the money added back to the account since the original debit no longer exists.

pstation 07-28-2006 06:20 AM

it's really ridiculous that it takes so long for pending charges to be removed with epass cards ;\

Kimo 07-28-2006 06:40 AM

just use them at the atm!

cyberstar 07-28-2006 06:43 AM

never use epass for shopping.. i've learned that from reading 20000 posts about double charges and stuff...

woj 07-28-2006 07:06 AM

funny thing is, I've used a bank debit card 100s of times and never had any issues like these, double charges, having to wait 30 days for charge to drop, etc etc....

I was told this in an e-mail but I think I would have noticed the money go back onto my account. I'm careful to check any new balance where it came from and so on so I know who is paying me on time.

I'll icq you anyway.

Well the bank knows 100% who you are and will have no problems getting the money back if you cheat them.

The reason we have to hold it for 30 days is that, that is the time the merchant have to complete the transaction.

:winkwink: :winkwink: :winkwink: yup same here

seeric 07-28-2006 07:56 AM

30 days for an auth to clear. wow.

thats why i refuse to use epass. i only pay out that way becasue so many affils want it.

the system is flawed in many ways because they have to be so skittish with the rules for fraud reasons. can't blame em really.

Yet another reason to have a decent account history available. How would you know it was added back if you can't go back far enough to see if the original charge was deleted? :2 cents: :)

I won't use epassporte, so I don't know, but how long of an account history is available?
