"While the cyclist who tested positive for doping at the Tour de France won't be identified until backup tests are complete, it does not appear to be any member of USA Cycling _ including champion Floyd Landis."

chodadog.. Hm.. sadly i consider its more than likely that it is in fact Floyd Landis - Yesterday he was supposed to have appeared in a Dutch race - and today in a race in Denmark - He never showed up in Holland, and the danish arranger has been informed that Landis 'most likely isnt on the plane' - And i quote the danish arranger "We have tried to get in touch with his personal agent aswell as his team manager - however it seems they have dissapeared of the face of the earth".

This all happens roughly at the same time as the UCI releases a pressrelease saying yet another rider in the tour de france has used illegal doping.

If not Landis..its one its one hell of a coincidence

Another quote from Pat McQuaid (President of UCI) when asked if the suspect was in fact Floyd Landis "I can't say - but what i can say is that i'm really pissed about this incident - the whole cycling sports honour and credibility is at stake now"

I'd have to agree that it looks fishy, but from the article i linked to:

Quote:

The International Cycling Union said Wednesday that an unidentified cyclist turned in a positive doping test during the Tour, widening the scandal that gripped this year's race before it began.

His name, team and nationality won't be released until the testing process is completed, including the analysis of a backup sample.

But the sport's governing body did say the rider's team and national federation were notified, as well as national and world anti-doping authorities. USA Cycling has not been contacted by UCI, spokesman Andy Lee said.
Surely they would have said no comment instead of saying they hadn't been contacted.

Troels 07-27-2006 05:25 AM

Just read the positive test was taken after the Morzine stage where Landis made a miracle comeback and won just 24 hours after he lost 8 minutes..
I wonder how many riders were tested.

IF it's really him. What a complete ass. For the rest of his life he will be known as one of the biggest cheats in the world.

These guys are simply stupid if they think they could use doping methods this time around....all the biggest names too. It does make you say hmmmm when on stage 15 Landis tore it up, stage 16 BONKED, stage 17 quoted as the most prolific ride ever for the Tour de France!! Thats not proof, but it is suspect now that this news is being released.
