Please explain the advantages to me of getting married and having kids.
 

This is a serious post, as I almost got married. Sometimes I regret not following through. But, more and more I am happy I don't have a wife or kids as it has allowed me to pursue things that otherwise I would have not been able to.

Am I missing out on something? I have heard from many people that having a kid changed their lives for the better. At the same time, these people are sometimes unable to do things due to unexpected family commitments. I find myself thinking " If you didn't have the wife and kids we wouldn't have this problem."

Please enlighten me.

Everybody is different.I was almost married and a father 3 times..freaked the hell out of me.I guess I'm selfish and will never have the settle down syndrome

Everyone is obviously different and there are of course positives and negatives with either situation. I can say this though - the joy my children have brought me outweighs any other feeling in the world. No, it isn't always easy, yes you miss out on some things, but you get so much more in return.

But it isn't for everyone...

I can't even begin to fathom the joy it would bring to see my child to suceed at their interest. Being proud of what I taught them.

Hey, I love my kids, but there is no way that the marriage was a good thing.

Joy, Happiness, content, Love, goes on and on. Every kid you have you think later how you lived without them before they were born. We have 2 now, and 3 is the limit. 2 little girls, and hoping for a boy. If not 3 girls it will be, then someone is getting snipped. Maybe me maybe her. Might flip a coin lol. :winkwink:

Well the human race should continue. Someone has to take care of all of us as we get old. Maybe we could have some sort of camp or something that raises the children. Then we all continue the party and fuck our brains out etc. That way the government could program them to think corectly. geee, you could even watch your kid on webcam when you feel like it.

For those that think marriage is wonderful and raising a family is rewarding, let 'em have at it. While we're at it we should give the same rights to the gay/lesbian community.

Married life is really different from single life. It requires responsibilities. It is advisable to settle and have a family if you are really ready emotionally and financially. :)

My fiance and I got engaged to keep her parents quiet. (strict asian family on her side).

I have no interest in marriage or children. She wants to get married but shares my feelings on children.

I have said, "Hey, you want to spend thousands of dollars on a pointless ceremony that changes nothing, go ahead... but i'm not paying for it".

Took a little while but long story short, I'm not paying for anything except the booze ;)

kids - taken care of yer old ass when yer walkin with a cane.
wife - if you find the right person, its a good to have someone to fight thru life with ya.

marriage is the best thing i have ever done. my wife is my best friend and i have always been a family man. we cant wait to have kids as well.

I wanna have a couple of shittlings runnin around screaming and giving my wife hell.. I'd just sit on the couch with a beer in my hand cheering them on and laughing.. now that's love for ya!!

With marriage comes hard times and fighting no doubt, but if with the right person also comes a deep bond and friendship with someone who will stand by your side through all the hard times that will come. Kids are cute and fun, and tons of hard work. But I look forward to all the exciting moments they will bring. Like their first words, first steps, prom, graduation, etc. I can't wait to do all the things with them that I didn't get to do as a kid.

Marriage is so great that I can't seem to get enough of it! I've already done it twice, and I plan to do it at least two or three more times in the future.
