Look at the contestant list on the main page

Amp is #5 on the list, he was gfydc5.gfydesigncontest.com
Alias is #4 on the list he was gfydc4.gfydesigncontest.com

I was #34 on the list I was gfydc34.gfydesigncontest.com

So automatically I figured the list and who was who..

So did almost everyone else.. I got messages for whos shit was whos, and so did everyone else...

3. The hot or not script is the lamest fucking script and is easy as pie to get over on... you can easily use multiple dialups and clear cookies, and also you can use opera, netscape, and IE to get three extra votes in... Clearly you can see how the results of ranking can be offset heres..

This was total shit to begin with.. and it was a totally hoaky setup.. the judges did a fine job.. but the script that got the sites to where they were was a fucking joke..

This is my factual assesment of the situation.. not an opinion or theory..

I think your design was very good, as were most of them. With all contests you have to have a winner. I do not think the rules were properly interpreted. In my mind I thought the sites had to be unique one offs..but then obviously not. I did personally think the Mafia logo did infringe on the rules and that it could have been left off untill after the competition and put on when the site went live to the public, but then other people did actually directly break the rules and were given benefit of the doubt. So in all it seems fair.

However the winning entry was of a high standard.

first of all my site was never in the top 5 even so thats not the issue.

let me tell u guys, when I was artificially clicking my way to the top the mafia porn site was right along side me. They could not have kept up unless somene had been doing the same shit i was for them!

but when the results were jumping around:link mafia kept clicking thier site high also as all the other sites fell every time i voted but mafia kept rising at a rate that only straight ten scores could cause...

the poll was skewed...

the results in this poll seem harder to sway hahaha... so far damn near 80% say it was unfair.

Every system is cheatable, everybody knows that and everybody could cheat this script with some small effort. What would be the point having a better script that not everybody would be able to cheat it, but still some.....no point.


What you did Alias wasn't right.

Altough I don't know shit about graphics, I was excited when I saw so much interest and dedication before the contest. I thought....nice to see the gfy members working on something together.......yeah right, it was proved bullshit. Not the contest, neither the rests, but the spirit of the webmasters.

so, the right thing to do would be to sit back and let others skew the voting poll in a more subtle manner?

thats what was happening, so i chose to call it a day and i knew i'd be kicked out but at least i did my part to shed light on the other cheaters that really ruined the contest.

think what you want, i was very up front with this board regarding what i did and how it affected the poll results

for what it's worth I think what you did was right. This contest was unfair and you proved it.

I thought mafia was shit hot (as I stated in a different thread) - I didn't know who designed it - and couldn't give a flying fuck if Lensman's auntie built it - the site was the best of the lot and I gave it a good mark. If everybody saw it and was as impressed as myself they would have all given it a good mark - that's why it's score kept rising.
Ya the scoring system sucked - the username thing would have been a better system (apart from it giving Boneprone about 70 different voting chances).

I'm a bit annoyed that zexy didn't get 2nd though - I liked that one :(
