It is really setting in :( Moving on....

I just packed up most of my things to travel to Scottsdale tomorrow to bring everything to my new place. I will be leaving a pretty much 6 year relationship to live alone.

I have never been through a break up :(

Any advice? The silence here is deafening.

xclusive 07-20-2006 11:05 PM

Take some time to enjoy yourself. Hope that you can find some happiness.

TurboAngel 07-20-2006 11:06 PM

Aww time will help.

aico 07-20-2006 11:07 PM

The best way to get over a guy is to get under another one. :2 cents:

Amysworld 07-20-2006 11:08 PM

Thanks... I know it will be great to be single again. And when I go out, I have no problem making friends. It is being in the house... alone. Scary... :(

BIGTYMER 07-20-2006 11:09 PM

Best of luck to you!

BOSS1 07-20-2006 11:10 PM

So ur sure its over.... If so u need to start making new friends and getting into new things. Basically u have a chance to reshape yourself as a person. Buy ur self and expnsive car or something that u can use for now to occupy loads of free time that u will have...... that will make u really happy. :)

Whenever i get into a fight or a breakup i start hitting the gym heavy and my body responds quick so it makes me feel great in a matter of days :)

BOSS1 07-20-2006 11:11 PM

also living alone might suck...considered roomates..? September is close..some university students might need cheep space

Juilan 07-20-2006 11:13 PM

Lean on your girlfriends and date a lot of guys, like the chocolate sampler pack.

stickyfingerz 07-20-2006 11:14 PM

I can fly out if you need a snuggle partner. :winkwink:

Well we are remaining friends. But I am moving almost 6 hours away. Not exactly right down the street. And I dont have any close girlfriends there. I just liked the people I met there and wanted to be surrounded by those type of people.

Thank GOD for football season. That'll help :)

There is a 2 story workout place in the condo's development. So this will help. Plus a pool. I just hope the age of the people there are my age.

I am used to a 2500 square foot house (what I am leaving). I couldnt deal with another person in a condo. It is already going to be a pain finding space for my things. Plus, I want to make bedroom #2 an office :)

SteveLightspeed 07-20-2006 11:29 PM

Don't worry Amy, you'll love the Scottsdale crowd, we are like family around here.

Now's a good time to get a pet, as lame as it sounds.

CIVMatt 07-21-2006 11:54 AM

czarina 07-21-2006 11:59 AM

The Other Steve 07-21-2006 03:44 PM

The pet idea might sound dumb but it does really work - it kept me sane in a similar situation.

BoyAlley 07-21-2006 03:45 PM

Make sure you keep plenty of batteries in stock for your vibrators :thumbsup

dissipate 07-21-2006 03:47 PM

I'd talk to you, but you never reply back on ICQ anymore!

Rebounds are good for what they are good for...as long as you both understand that it's for healing and transitioning, they can be quite useful. :)

You may want to think about getting a cat or dog...too.

Holly Lez! 07-21-2006 04:01 PM

Awww give yourself lots of time and keep busy by seeing friends ... You will heal quicker then you know it!

corvette 07-21-2006 04:04 PM

what steve said, well take good care of you

PamiebDVD 07-21-2006 04:17 PM

Hi Amy, it was great meeting and talking with you in Vegas.

Scottsdale is a great place and you'll meet lots of people!

It's all about time. No one ever wants to hear that, but it's true. I recently ended a 12 year relationship. You have to try to keep your mind busy. Sometimes it is ok to reflect on things from the relationship, but be very wary of rewriting certain memories into something better than they were. Also, which goes along with what I just said, 'euphoric recall' (recalling only good memories) can be a bitch. Sometimes you will have to 'remind' yourself why it is over.

candyflip 07-21-2006 04:41 PM

I'm still recovering from the end of a long term relationship. 3 years ago now.

My current girlfriend doesn't like it all too much. :1orglaugh

If i break up with my current gf soon, i'll be getting me a realdoll... :pimp

MetaMan 07-21-2006 04:49 PM

i broke up with my gf of about 2.5 years last month, still hurts alot, but some things are for the best, i can seriously tell you time is the only healer,

going out and getting laid is not always the best because then it causes you to think "i wish i had the stability and could fuck someone i care for".

but like i said time is the greatest healer, use this time to pimp yourself out, work out and go shopping.

seriously nothing feels better then losing some pounds and going out on the town in a new warddrobe. it gives you that inner "pimp" sense back after being out of the game for a while.

i wish the best of luck to you, lots of love out there, keep your head up. :thumbsup

MaddCaz 07-21-2006 04:56 PM

breathe for a while. No advice you'll get here will help with the pain. Just ease on out of it...TIME
