Sextrack who use's

My Ad-ware keeps reporting sextracker as spy ware...

This is for people that use it... I care less if you use it, just wanted to let you know.

Mr.Fiction 06-08-2002 04:05 PM

We have gotten complaints about that before from surfers.

I think it's saying the Sextracker cookies are spyware because they can be used to track where the surfer goes, like the doubleclick network ones can.

I don't think it's anything serious.

jimmyf 06-08-2002 04:07 PM

Wonder if doubleclick and sextracker are partners?

Seems like every time I get a sextracker one I get doubleclick also.

Mr.Fiction

If were getting complaints from surfers I would think it is serious,
if I got one I wouldn't use it. period.

In theory, I agree. However, if we didn't use anything we got complaints about, we wouldn't use anything at all. For example, some people have complained to us about banner ads, or cookies for login, or gay content, etc. :)

Well in my books something considered spy-ware is very bad,
and if you have had surfers telling I'd really think about it.
What is it, do they pay you to use there product? I don't know.
If they pay you... Then that's another story... I'd be dam if I would do business with them... It is wrong to TRACK people if NOT against the law. The law I don't know about. If not one there should be.

It could give a person a bad name..

A complaint about spy ware is Diff. than you examples.

I know what a cookie does Flynn..
I get a shit pot of cookies...

What am saying is Ad-Ware reports the sextrackers cookies
as Spy Ware.. and that's bad..

does not report all cookies as spy ware... but does report sextracker cookies as spy ware.

I wouldn't not use the product..

It is not right to track people...

Not all cookies are spy ware... sextracker is

I respect your opinion.
I also use Ad Aware. it's a great program esp if you use Kazaa :)
Any rate, we are not spying on people. We are just tracking hits for the great webmasters whom choose to use our Counter.
Thanks

Use Sexcounter instead :smokin

Mr.Fiction 06-08-2002 05:24 PM

I'm guessing that Sex Tracker may just be a victim of their own success in this case.

They are the big counter, so Ad Aware is aware of them. If you are using a smaller counter company, with less reach, then you may be flying under the radar for now. It would be interesting to know if the cookies that they consider spyware are also used by the other adult counters. If they are, then it's just a matter of Ad Aware going after the big guys and letting the little guys get away with the same thing because it's not worth their time to find them.

Does anyone know if the Sex Tracker cookies differ from the other counter cookies?

I just keep getting there spy ware on my computer... I will
just set Zone Alarm to block all cookies.

It's company's doing this kind of shit like sextracker that will
have surfers going out and buying software like Zone Alarm and Norton Firewall then blocking ALL ad's...

I use Hitbox, and they are pretty big... did use Foxcouter for awhile with Hitbox... And 2 other's

Am pretty sure Hitbox is alot bigger than sextracker.

Nope does not happen with any other counter that I know of.
Maybe they are getting a greed'ie and who knows might be selling Info... I have no ideal....

Sorry dude, we are not getting greedy. LMAO!
-Take care

jimmyf 06-08-2002 09:07 PM

What about cc company's that track sign ups with cookies.

How do the partners get credit if surfers do what I've done.
I've blocked not just your spy ware, but the cc company's..
did it because sextracker put spy ware on my computer

And am not getting your spy ware any longer.

Looks like you think it's funny. I don't nor should other webmasters.

Your fucking stupid.:321GFY

SleazyDream 06-08-2002 10:58 PM

it's a big conspiricy. Sextracker was hired by your wife to see if you ever look at porn - now there's gona be a big divorse and you'll loose half of all you own. Maybe even more if they hire Gary to doctor up some pics of you and the party goat in bed together. Just face it, everyone's out to get you.

ZoiNk 06-08-2002 11:33 PM

One I recall seeing are Sex Tracker, doubleclick and Flycast. Doubleclick and flycast are big networks that track surfers, but so does sextracker. If sex traffic varies the ad depending on what the surfer has seen before, that would be a reason why they are being targetted. Since doubleclick and flycast would do that automatically to not show the same ad to a surfer twice in a row.

That was my point. Sex Tracker is probably the only adult counter that's on enough sites to make it worth their time to use some sort of tracking. Who else has the reach of Sex Tracker?

Sex Swap seems pretty big too, or they were back some years, I wonder if they use cookies too?

All counters I use puts cookies on my computer.

Ad-Ware DOES not report them as spy ware.

Shit GFY uses cookies and Ad-Ware does not report them as spy ware. I was getting all kinds of cookies until I blocked them AND they didn't get reported as spy ware.

sextracker is doing something Diff. that causes this.

Some of you think it's funny, I Don't.
I don't give a shit if someone knows surf for porn.

I do care if someone puts spy ware on my fucking computer,
and tracks me. Now if you people think there is nothing wrong with this because you happen to use there product , shame on you.

You could be right. However, the other possiblity is that Ad Aware simply doesn't know or care about the smaller companies.

It would be interesting if the Sex Tracker people, who post here all the time, and even on this thread, would elaborate on what exactly their cookies do that make them get tagged as spyware.

I'm sure they could contact Lavasoft and see what the problem is. Any comment from Sex Tracker?

I agree with you. :thumbsup
Only I do not believe Hitbox is a smaller company. Maybe in the porn business Now, but other wise much bigger than sextracker much bigger.

xfalmp 02-01-2005 12:30 AM

Hmm.. for how long are they doing this? :disgust

P.S. This is an old thread.
