SWAT team rolled by my house yesterday
 

I had just jumped in my truck to run two streets down, and I got a half block from my house when I see this military truck, but black, coming over the hill, with about 15 guys on the top, and hanging from the sides of the truck. As you can imagine I was kind of startled, and initially thought there was some kind of military drill or something, but then all kinds of crazy scenarios rolled through my head, lol. So one of the guys hanging off the truck waves me off the road, so I pull to the side, and see about seven cop cars, an armored van, and a few other government vehicles follow the truck over the hill, and as the first truck comes closer, I see that they are all wearing black, and while I can't make out the letters in white on their torsos, I know they are SWAT. The scariest thing was they were each carrying what looked like semi-automatic guns as they rolled about three feet from where I sat in my driver's seat.

My son was watching my little ones at my house, so I whipped around, went home and locked my kids and I up in the house. There was a chopper circling overhead, a fire engine, tons more cops by this point, and it occurred to me that the little girl across the street was on her bike when I went to go up the street, so I hauled ass over to her house to tell her parents and make sure she was inside. The house the feds were targeting was across the street from the house directly behind me, and you just never know what's going to happen at these things...there were multiple guns that I knew of involved, and who knows what kind of firepower the people they are raiding have, and what if someone slips away and takes a kid playing on the street hostage, or breaks into a house looking for a place to hide.....you just never know. I feel if the cops want SWAT assistance, there could be some very very bad people living there.

So anyway, turns out the people who lived there were trafficing cocaine. I was totally shocked, because thsi is a very nice, very family-oriented, very quiet neighborhood. But I did notice a stronger police presence here then in the last neighborhood in this town that I lived in, so I guess they've been watching this house for a while.

See, no matter where I live, crazy shit happens, lol. At my old house, a dumptruck tipped over in my yard, lol.

Usually they carry more then the average 6 shooter?.especially when there used dealing with thugs that used to almost always out gun them?..They kind of learned their lesson....Like in Wasington D.C. during the Barry Admin.

Don?t worry their exceptionally trained professionals....they have more time on the range then the local patrol cops...they are a highly trained specialized operations unit. They typically don?t go in to get someone who?s got a boot on their car and have several years of outstanding traffic infractions.

Although Hillsborough county has always been a little gung ho anyways

Very true...and as my reaction illustrates, people in neighborhoods like this aren't expecting drug dealers, so there is less scrutiny then living in a low income or low class area, lol. Thanks, doll!

And you know, I don't even live IN Tampa...I live in Spring Hill, a 'burb about an hour north of Tampa. Mainly a retirement community that has been growing younger in the last decade or two.

Ok ... on my street (wich is a very quiet family street), there must be at least 3-5 people growing weed, and probably the same ammount selling some drugs.

Shut the fuck up, I'm latina. My son has little black kids in and out of my hosue all days becasue they are friends of his. They spend the night, I treat them exactly like his white friends and I've dated black men, so guess it looks like YOU are the one who PRE JUDGED me.

Pot I wouldn't really bat an eye at. I'd keep my kids away from it, of course, but I don't think pot should be illegal in the first place, so I wouldn't be shocked at all at that. I think a LOT more people smoke it then people realize, lol.

Furthermore, I know people hooked on ice that look like college kids, so I KNOW drugs are not limited to poor black areas. It was much less the fact that there are people who do drugs in my neighborhood, (and people who have known me a while know I had drug issues in my own home at one point), and much more that there were people living two houses away that were doing anything to the point that the investigators thought they needed to parade armed men down my street to protect them from these people.

Yeah, that's what I'm surprised about. I know people do coke all over the place, and it's an expensive habit, so naturally higher income areas have users. Fucking duh. I'm not so pristine that I haven't done it myself, for christ's sake.

But having someone trafficking...not just dealing, but TRAFFICKING large amounts of cocaine, enough to warrant a SWAT teams' assistance in raiding the place, two doors down, yeah, maybe I am naive, but that's not something I expect.
