crap 12 hrs? Ive been without power 30 mins or so and it felt shit already.

Do you have some kinda insurance for that? Cause here if its more then 5 hrs you get to claim lost income as a pro. Plus supermarkets can claim waisted food etc.

Not that I know of. And of course the workers have cleaned up most of the trees except for the main one causing most of the problems

But for us, we never get anything like that, and this was a 30 minute storm that raged through last night. I'm amazed at the power of it

Tip .... keep an old rotary phone on one of your outlets ... the phone gets all the power it needs from the telephone line itself. There?s no additional power required to make or receive a call.

You can recharge the blackberry in the car. And L-Pink is right, and old fashioned corded phone (doesn't even need to be rotary) is required in all homes

Yeah, can you believe it took up to 6 weeks for some people to get back electricity, water and phone? (I think that was the hottest week in FL too). I got lucky and we were among the first few neighborhoods fixed.

One thing you have to say about Long Island, once the power goes off, it takes forever for LIPA to get off their ass to fix it.
