3. Recipient thanks them on the boards.

I'm simply pointing out that sponsors do not give out gifts 'out of kindness', they do it because for giving a 50 cent pair of flip-flops, their reputation is boosted by XXX dollars on the board by it being pointed out that they give out 'cool gifts'.

So are Birkenstocks, but I wear those too. Once you get old and have a few leg surgeries, you find out comfortable shoes are the way to go and you really don't give a shit what they look like :)
