Yet another, but different, laptop question...

OK, I'm looking for something VERY LIGHT, compact, small, for traveling, not for using as a desktop replacement.

I've seen two small Vaios, there's a Toshiba Portege, and I think a Lifebook.

Any comments, anyone have any of these?

I realize the small ones have to be plugged into the dock to use alot of the drives, etc. that's not an issue either.

Think email, stats, surfing and not having to lug anything heavier than I have to thru the airports.

Kimmy,

I have a couple of the Sony notebooks - the one with the camera built in Sony VAIO PCG.. it is great size - and perfect for icq / email and basic word docs.. and best of all it is by far the most portable and durable of any notebook of a super small size.. the downside is that it is not so powerful ifyou like a lot of windows open at the same time..

I also have used the Z505 -t is larger and more powerful and super slim - not sure if any problems if your crash it around.. etc..

Fujitsu lifebook - so/so

Acer makes a very top notebook that can replace your desktop - if that is what your looking for..

Take a look at ThinkPads, those are the thinest ones I've seen.

Quite a bit actually, but I don't need a big screen to watch it on.

Toshiba Protege' and Dell Latitude X200's are both ranked well and very thin and very light. Less than 2lbs.
Dell has excellent support.

Something not as powerful, the Sony Picturebooks.
Although, Sony support is horrible.

Kimmy,

It's as simple as buying this:

...If this isn't for you then buy this:

I have a Latitude and it rocks. With as much as you travel, you owe this computer to yourself!

Tiny, tiny tiny thats what I want ;)

The baby sized Vaio, the little tiny Portege, that sort of thing -- I have too many shoes to carry to tote a big ass computer too ;)

I have a VAIO laptop and trust me, if it can endure my 4 kids, as they use it more than me, then they are some DAMN good little laptops....... I wouldn't take nothing for mine...... and it is small...... :)

You want the lifebook, its the only one that you DO NOT need to plug into the doc for the drives..

it has a dvd+cdrw built in.. plus its cruseo which translates to about 10 hours of battery life on the extended battery.. very sweet..

i forget the model number, but feel free to hit me up on icq if you need it..
