Damn paper wasp nest by the front door

I fucked it up with a stick then ran like a bitch back in the house as they came out. Yesterday I hosed it down and pretty much destroyed it but it wasn,t enough today I walk out and its rebuilt!

Think they will rebuild again

mardigras 07-18-2006 01:04 PM

Get some of the quick acting spray that has a long distance sharp stream. It knocks them down before they can charge you and they won't come right back to that spot.

Yow... sounds like you need some industrial strength goodies. Do you have a "feed" store nearby? They can tell you exactly what you need for any kind of insect in your area. I don't even bother with exterminators anymore, it seems they use just enough strength to keep you using them monthly. After Katrina I got a serious outdoor flea infestation from feeding the neighborhood's left-behind pets and used the stuff from the feed store (Viper, plus an add-in product for egg control) in a sprayer and haven't had a problem since.

Joesho 07-18-2006 03:04 PM

fart on them

aico 07-18-2006 03:06 PM

You have to kill them or they will just rebuild somewhere else, very near by, where maybe you won't find them until it's too late and they spring their trap on you.

Just had the same thing happen yesterday while doing yard work! Damn thing was in the yellow lantana and I was trimming it and didn't even see them until like 10 came out fast as hell!

I had spent close to 3 days last month spraying them with a pressure washer around the under part of the roof and killing them as they fell to the ground, must have killed 30 in that time.

Time for some spray I think!

We had that problem 2 years ago. It was in the grill in the wall from the outside, which leads to our kitchen. We had to get some dudes out to take care of it.

I've noticed the past few days a few of them hovering about the same place again. Will need to get it checked out. Fuckers...

Buy Bengal Wasp spray. Bengal kills ANYTHING. No other brand will work even remotely close to Bengal.

When I was a kid, I was getting rid of a paper wasp nest. One of the wasps got me on the stomach. It's an incredibly sharp and deep stinging feeling. Sharp sting then deep burn. Definitely hit that nest from a distance.

Burn the house down and move to the neighbour's yard.

Seriously though, Raid Wasp & Hornet Killer does a really fantastic job. You can spray from about 10 feet away.

Small bit of professional advice since my fiance gets this customer request call all of the time.

Poisons are just a short term solution, not to mention you could end up poisoning other wildlife in your area. Many which are beneficial to your yard. Plus they will have a tendency to keep coming back season after season often in the same or close location.

So go with prevention. Yet you can kill the initial nest if it is of any real size first. Then go to any garden/home store and pick yourself up a few wasp traps. The non poison types, they also require no bait. Hang them where the wasps or yellow jackets like to nest. Keep the water level good and your problem will stay gone for a lot less money.

my condolances :(

E$_manager 07-18-2006 06:13 PM

you take a towel, close the nest all - not to let them out, take it and bring to a forest or some other place. I don't think the will return.

Raid works great. We have TONS of wasps here so it's almost like doing battle with them all the time. I've gotten damn good with the aim on the spray ;)

Such mighty killing ability from such a small can... god I love the stuff. It kills any bug so far on contact within 5 seconds, best shit I've ever bought.
