Expiring domain & 301-how long?
 

I got a domain that's expiring in 60 days.. I don't like the name, I don't want to renew it.. I just 301 redirected it to a new site of mine.. How long will it take for all the SE to update & change url of my listings so that I do not lose traffic.,,, I know I'll lose all the backlinks, but I just don't want to renew it.

Depending on the amount of traffic its getting, I would probably park it at Sedo or the likes. I parked my old freehost domain there almost two years ago now and I'm still getting ~ 300 hits a day, most of it SE.

yeah, like I want to park a 5k a day domain at sedo for pennies..

Why the hell would you let a 5k a day domain expire vs. selling it or parking it? Parking it will give it better longevity than redirecting it and done right it makes more than pennies.

because only 3.5k of it is from SE & backlinks,, the rest is from trade scripts & I already 301 so, the trades should be dying out after today..


As far as parking & pennies.. what I meant is, by 301 I can sell pps or rev % & make more off of it than getting .01 ppc from sedo..

just renew the domain, jeez, can't afford $8 to renew it?

Like I wouldn't have just bought another 50 domains this week if it was about the fucking money wise ass,,, :winkwink:
I don't like the domain name.. It's useless to me if it were not for the traffic..

Besides, it's only $6 to renew...

If it has traffic you want, why would you want to risk losing it over $6? I guess redirect it like you did already, and then at the last minute see if google picked up the new domain, if they don't probably just renew it...

that's the plan for now,,
