It's about the only way to solve the problem. If groups like Hezbollah were eliminated it would do a great deal toward peace in the middle east. If those countries over there would take care of their own problems, the west wouldn't have to.

Israel have occupied Lebanon before, for some 18 years it only made Hizbollah stronger.

There is of course one way to reduce Hizbollah to impotency and that is to crush Syria and Iran, which are the sponsors of Hizbollah, and which Israel has the capacity to do.

See that's why I never supported the second war in Iraq, because if we would have really been in a war on terror we would have took Iran and not Iraq.

Saddam would have been kept in check, just by the threat of the US being next door in Iran. Everyone think's Iran would be a bigger war and it would, but in reality we are already fighting Iran by default. It's Iran whom is supporting much of the insurgents in Iraq and is a major factor behind the current issues in Israel and Palestine.

We are going to end up fighting Iran sooner or later, the choice is do we do it before they have nukes or after. I'm not a fan of the war over there but we might as well finish what we have started, other wise it's going to be this same BS for the next 100 years.

And if it is the end of Hezbollah, so what? Hezbollah came into being as a response to the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon. Given the history of the region, is it remotely likely that even if Hezbollah is eradicated, some other group will not appear to take its place?

When Israeli invaded Lebanon in 1982 to displace the PLO, the incoming missiles were only capable of dropping just inside the Israeli border. Now they are able to reach Haifa. As for the PLO, they turned into a party of government which was thrown out by its own people for being too moderate. In practical terms, did that invasion move Israel forward?

We did not and have not crushed Iraq and not doing so has created a major problem.
